Internet Dating.....Who Has Done it?!

I gave up with pof, everyone I emailed didn't reply, maybe I just fail at dating?

At least you tried. :)

I'd sign up but I've not really got much going for me at the moment, so as result I've decided not to bother because I don't believe I'll get anywhere anyway. That is real failure my friend. :p

Met my wife online back in the days of Compuserve, wasnt even looking for anything, just wanted to see what online chatting was like. Got hooked on the Go Private chat rooms on Compuserve just talking to people from around the world.

My wife was a chat moderator and spotted me going in and out of chat rooms at speed, she asked if I was lost ad I had to explain to her that I was playing an imaginary game (Imagine a virtual corridor with chat rooms, running down the corridor opening the doors and seeing who was in each room - Yeah, its rather sad now come to think of it ;) ).

We got chatting, fell in love online and met each other just 8 weeks later. She lived in Bournemouth and me in Wrexham, North Wales, I later moved down to Bournemouth. Known eachother for almost 12 years now, we will have been married for 8 years on the 20th of this month with four children aged 5, 4, 2 and 5 months.

That 33k modem was the best thing I ever bought ;)

The only downside to this was at the time Compuserve had a subscription charge of about £3/hour and ontop of this a BT phone bill. IIRC one month I managed to clock up a £400 Compuserve bill and a £400 BT bill, OUCH!

veggieman - ahh thats nice :)

ive already got a few "uh ohs" lol

the guy who gave his number just messaged saying "did you get my last message? im not sure if theyre going through" he knows full well they are and its just because i havent replied

theres another who reminds me of my ex and just rang alarm bells by saying "im looking for something serious, i dont like being alone ive been single for two months now"

hes not my type anyway!

theres so many who dont seem to take the time to actually write a decent hello message, some are so badly spelt i have to sit and work out what they mean!

When i get messages like that, i just delete them, if girls cant be bothered to speak to me in english i won't reply. Seriously you need a degree in cryptography to decipher some of those text messages.

Never had this problem, as my online chatting days were over before all of this txtng crap came along. The only thing one needed to know back then were the usual lol, rofl, lmfao, roflmao, wtg and a whole load of others, most of which have been lost along with netiquette.

Well a little update. I started sending my e-mails out and I'm quite pleased to report that I'm achieving a 22% reply rate to my e-mails. That far out-weighed my expectations. I've just knocked out another 38 emails so we'll see where that goes. Quite happy to report that of the women that reply they have been fun with a good feminine vibe and energy about them. No princesses or 'sistahs' yet *phew* (They'll be cast adrift pretty quickly anyway)

Early stages yet and have not even tried to move potential prospects to MSN/Skype/phone. We'll see how that progresses in the coming days. It seems absolutely vital to get them away from POF ASAP. Cant have them chatting to me and other competitors. Would Tesco be more successful if Sainsburys and ASDA went under? You bet .. catch my drift?

So far I've targetted the 18 to 22 age rage but with the last batch of emails I've also gone to 25.

I noticed when I started actually reading these girls profiles (18 to 22) that barely any of them have a car, as per their profile. This is MASSIVE oversight on my part and a huge issue as I want them coming to me. Anyway, I've added a column to my spreadsheet to denote women with no access to a car and I think, subject to my results, I'll probably spend less time on these than those with access to a car. It depends. Part of me says, well, just send the message and ask pretty quickly what their transportation is like, if its bad, just cut them adrift, if its not, you chased what looked like a dead lead and actually made a break through. Dunno. Depends how time inefficient it is.

Anyway, onwards and upwards! :D

I would be genuinely surprised if you've ever been paid.
