*** iPhone 5 - Revealed! ***

They then offer to let me open the replacement handset for damage... 1st one had white dust along the top of the screen which wouldnt move, so he goes off and gets another... 2nd one scratched out of the box

He didn't buy my story that this was a problem, and has a big discussion ongoing.. Basically saying "we've sold hundreds.. All fine".

FFFFFFFUUUUUUuuuu :mad::mad::mad:

Wut? So they bring you two out of which are faulty / damaged and sticks to the story of it not being a common issue.

My white 64GB has a little 'mark' on the right hand side polished edge, almost in line with the top edge of the screen... doesn't bother me in the slightest but I can see why some are getting worked up over it.

When you think how many they've had to produce in presumably a record amount of time, I personally feel it's understandable why these issues have occurred. It comes down to personal preference and how bad any mark is as to whether this is a serious issue or not.

For me, it's not a problem with my handset.

I wonder if this is a batch issue.

I had a look at a version in a 02 store and they had it clamped in a metal grab thing and it had no marks on it what so ever, and the shop guy said obviously its been hammered with usage and people looking at it....

Most people who got launch phones seem to report a week 36/37 manufacture date, which means they had to seriously crank these things out of the factory.

Considering we saw leaks through the summer and as early as May, its surprising they never starting to manufacture these much earlier.

Not mine - robbed off someone MacRumors. But wow, that's great speeds! That must be the HSPA+/DC-HSPA working well. Imagine what it'll be like on 4G LTE .

I am extremely happy with the purchase, last iphone i had was the 3G one, and last one before 5 was blackberry 9900.

Feels fantastic in hand, feels quick, maps apps is hilariously horrible as if a five year old was in charge and just wanted to eat icecream and go home.

Was worried it is going to be too long (one of the reasons I didn't get S3) but no, it fits well in hand and is comfortable. Good times!

My new ipad is the same, quite why you would need faster when you can't torrent etc on the device anyway without it being jail broke.

3 meg or 18 meg doesn't really make much difference to my day to day pad or phone useage. So if it goes to 100meg what would I really see in benefit on a phone or pad.

To replace my home network connection, agreed though.

Who cares how hard they have had to work to get these out, the amount these phones costs and the profit margin Apple has on them if i got anything less then perfect i would be unhappy. If Apple paid more then the $8 labour cost to put these together then maybe this would'nt happen.

Even on handsets that don't have any problems on the edging. If you look close at the area around the Lightning port and the volume buttons you can see the silver where the anodizing either hasn't gone all the way around or where it has been stamped out.

Anyone any experience on lost parcels? My iPhone 5 delivery went to 'delayed' on the ukmail website yesterday and after a phone call to find out what was up they stated it has now gone missing :(

Phoned Apple who just said they will look into it and phone back on Tuesday which was quite disappointing considering a quick call to the courier explains the problem? I phoned an Apple store before that call as trying to get through on their main number feels impossible at the minute! The guy said I will get a new delivery sent immediately by express delivery considering it wasn't my fault.

Is it worth ringing Apple again in the hope of a different answer or am I just being an impatient so and so and should just sit it out until Tuesday and hope they phone?

I still don't know what to make of this phone. For years I've wanted an iphone with a bigger screen but now it's here, I'm a bit underwhelmed. When I see unboxing videos etc and people are commenting on how they like the two-tone finish, I can't help thinking, in fact I'm almost certain that if the 4/4s had the aloooominum(always makes me:D) and the 5 had the glass back, people would be giving it pretty much the same praise. It just seems a bit of a change. My upgrade isn't untill the end of the year so I'll get to see what other issues people have and also, if it still can't do street view by then, there's a fair old chance that it might never get it. Plus i'll get to see how 4G rolls out. Being on o2, I'm slightly cautious of signing up for another 24 months with a phone that won't do 4G on that network (whenever o2 have 4G). I could switch networks, but if 4G doesn't come to my area for another year and it's expensive to begin with, I won't be missing much.

Im thinking of just returning mine for full refund and waiting til they sort it out - especially with what EVHs experience above. It looks obvious to me that both the black and white suffer from a manufacturing defect, its just more obvious on the black

I just have no confidence that it wont get worse over time because it hasnt taken the anodisation properly on the edges...

ps3ud0

The problem will come if people keep them till apple stores get replacement stock in and then apple could say "you caused that wear and tear etc" so we are not swapping it.
