*** iPhone 5 - Revealed! ***

I agree. I moved from a 3G to a 4 and the jump was massive. Looking at the potential jump from a 4 to a 5 doesn't look to be comparable.

The 3G was turning into a rage inducing device just before I got the 4. It was slow, bloated and horrible!

I'm hoping the 5 is going to be good. It needs something game changing but i doubt we'd see it.

Yes using my 4 with the apps and games I play in all honesty I don't have any issues or notice anything slow. I think in reality I could easily get another year out of it if I decide not to bother.

I still have a 3GS at the moment, winding me up so much. I hope this new iPhone has something to offer. But I could always get the 4/S if I fancy it, when the 5 comes out I guess it will be cheaper?

3GS to 4 was mainly due to the screen and camera - Retina being one of the few 'wow' upgrades the phone has had in it's 5 iterations so far and one that once they did they couldn't really better (at least in terms of res - I expect the new one will probably have better contrast/colour saturation etc). Jumping from a 3GS to a 4S - a 2 year leap - was obviously an improvement for me (speed, camera, screen) but after synching it just felt like I had essentially the exact same phone, just quicker, shinier, sharper... and more awkward to hold.

Had I gone from a 2G to 3G, 3G to 3GS, or 4 to 4S then they'd not have felt like much of an improvement at all hardware wise; the gubbins get better but it's the software additions that flesh the thing out and although it's still the same old iOS the new one usually has a few exclusives in that department that make it worth the while.

They're not going to completely tear iOS apart and create something totally different so iPhones as a whole aren't going to be drastically different to use... plus smartphones have been around long enough now in their current form that they're getting a little stale-ish, dare I say (starting to feel that way with tablets too) and things like wearable computing are probably where we'll get our kicks from next.

Pretty much the same, I'm not due and upgrade till April I think it is. So I will have the benefit of hearing about any problems and more than likely having a good mess about with someone else's phone before I decide.

I'd go android but I really don't like it (other half has a GS2)

You shoud'nt base your opinion on a skinned version of Android.

If you dont like Android WP8 could be an alternative, but more then likey the ip5 will atleast have a bigger screen and better internal, and possible be a 4g phone so you could always get that.

I definitely want to see an improvement in battery technology. Processing speed and Screens have got to a great standard but every time I go out I'm always hoping the battery lasts till I get home, using a 4s.

If the Anandtech article is anything to go by, its doesn't seem like a massive upgrade over my iphone 4. I have had iphones since 2008 but I am actually looking forward to September 5th when Nokia/Microsoft provide information on their flagship Windows 8 Mobile, expected to be the Lumia 1000.

Good timing by Microsoft - for the consumer anyway. I'm getting tired of my iPhone 4, but it still does what I want it to. If the Windows 8 mobile looks good and the iPhone 5 disappoints, I think I'll take a look. I've played around with the current Windows Mobile 7 and I really like it - very unique. There's a wrench breaking away from the Apple ecosystem, but as I already run Windows 7 and expect to run Windows 8 from 26 October I'm already mostly there and set up on the next one anyway.

The app support is very very poor compared to ios though.

It is improving quickly from what I can see, and the benefit of being late to the game is that only the decent applications are actually brought over - all the stuff you'd use. There's very little of the clutter you see in the App Store, and even less of the mess that is available on Android.
