Thanks again for hosting earlier, what a great car \track combination! How did the Quality/ race go?

Here is a picture of the iflag case I was talking about. It cost a lot for what it is but it's really well designed.

@howler - no worries, we all understand :)

@Muska - very nice enclosure, so I went to read up more, believ that enclosure by a guy called Casten on iracing? Expensive, but very very nice. Pre-orders for enclosure closed mid Jan but may hit the guy up for latest status. How much did you pay for hardware in total?

Qualy and race didnt happen, as I was only one left (!), but had a great practice with you and learnt some better lines. And yes, simply sublime car/track combo. Looking forward to seeing what Bathurst is like with the new FR2.0 and R8.

It was indeed Carsten Firmer. Worth giving him a shout if you're interested. It was about £25 for the hardware which was a genuine Arduino board (needed for correct mounting in this case.

Spunkey posted this video the other week on the iRacing forums, as he said, RIP headphone users but this might just be the best onboard view I've seen!

R8 LMS at the mountain

Just retired the mighty Korean beast from the Bathurst 12 hours.

Took some damage in the 4th hour and lost half an hour in repairs. The appetite for running around for the duration and getting up very early for/staying up until 7am wasn't really there with nothing to fight for. Everyone got a double stint and we caught and passed the two nearest cars. That got us to 162 laps, which is one over the magic 1000km. Seemed a suitable milestone to head off for a beer and get some sleep after.

12 hours at Bathurst, wow, thats a test! Beer well deserved.

For anyone with a free hour, will be hosting another open practice and race session for skippy at Bathurst today Sun 28th 16:00-17:00 GMT

20 min practice, 10 min open qualy followed by 30 min race. Session named

Pyjama Racing Syndicate

All welcome.

In the stark daylight of the morning after ... it was a tad ambitious. All the drivers are Kia regulars, but two hadn't done anything over a couple of hours before and had no experience of a heavily used dynamic track. One slight mistake on the top the mountain and it wiped three corners off the car.

With my enduro head on driving at 9/10ths I managed a double stint of an hour and a half incident free, which was good.

Might pop in for the Skippy's if I've got time later.

In the early running we were 4th (in class) after 3 and a bit hours. Was looking good as we were eeking an extra lap out of the fuel on the cars ahead, so there was a podium in the offing. Recovered to 6th by the 7th hour, but 10 laps down on the car ahead. They were a couple of seconds quicker primarily due to the body damage.

Looking at the final result the #707 won the class ... which is who we were fighting after 3 hours...

I spent some of the weekend playing Forza 6 and I can safely say I won't be doing it again.

There's something no quite right about the car handling and physics, or at least they feel inconsistent. I had some serious bouts of game rage when the basically the MX5 can't go around any corner at any speed in second gear, without loosing the back end.

Then there's the AI which does all the douche bag stuff that real drivers so online. Why? Because that's what the AI is based on. They Driveatar system uses driving lines and behaviour from online races. So the only way for the AI not to be constantly trying to kill you is to have it on unbeatable. Which it does by cheating.

Add all the little niggles, like unskippable animations of your car entering then pits every time you restart a race. Being forced to basically play the demo at the beginning, when you've actually played the demo and it's still on the machine.

I think I'll be getting rid of the game and the cheapo wheel hub I bought at the same time as the rest of my Fanatec gear.

Roll on the new iRacing season when all the real life drivers can try and kill me in DX11 instead of DX9.

Haha..

Knew you weould stay, same as myself a couple of nightmare races and i'm quitting. Only to get a cracking result in the next one and Iracing is the best thing ever again :)
