iRacing

well i was bored so i did the 12.30 race as it went official.

this car is so weak, david unger lost his back end at the hairpin and i literally rolled into him, i got wheel damage i was sooo annoyed...

4 min optional repairs i thought nah im not doing that with only 9 racers ill be miles off the pace so i went back out after 30 secs, the car was drivable but was loose.

got back to 4th so wasnt too bad.

but thats 2 tiny very light knocks ive had today whats resulted in wheel damage..

SORRY MODS DIDNT REALIZE I WASNT ALLOWED TO POST THAT WORD SORRY...

The wheel damage is a bit silly, although only time I've got it here was when I flung the car into the wall in the last race which I guess is fair enough :p At charlotte it was just silly though, even though I didn't seem as badly affected as you it did happen a couple of times in the end and all from just joining the oval part, no way that should give wheel damage...

Sounds like the race wasn't too bad afterwards at least...

I'll probably do some more races this evening, hopefully get some more good ones rather than repeats of the last :p

Not really sure about the splits thing if I'm honest, but mostly that's just because it doesn't affect me, I'll always be in the top split so whether that's >20 cars or less doesn't really make a difference :)

yeah wasnt a bad race after...

apparently its not even wheel damage its suspension damage but the spotter dosent have that programed yet...

i think the split thing is a good idea especially for new comers so they at least feel like there getting some were, it made me happy when i won the lower split...

Your connection seemed a little bit screwy in that race btw, when Thomas hit you you'd blinked out from before the kink and then appeared seemingly half-spun at the hairpin, he didn't really have time to react, shame about that.

I signed up for the race and promptly forgot, went out to clean the chain on the bike and got back in at 12:38 after the race had started d'oh. Finished 2 laps down in 5th so not too bad, had some fun with one of the guys because he was racing someone else so I kept closing right up to sub 1s, then dropping to 3-4 seconds back before catching up again :p

aye and i know why, i left something seeding and my missis was on my ps3 downstairs..disaster..i had a scruffy S1 aswell which didnt help...

it wasnt his fault thats why i said sorry, no way i could be bothered to spend over 15 mins in the pits.

what i dont get is how my car was ruined and he didnt have to even go to the pits???

i only joined the race at 12.29 as i saw it was gunna be official and you were in there.

It happens semi-regularly with lag hits like that, not entirely sure why but one of the things with the netcode, in the skippy I've 'driven through' the middle of another car that span and was sitting at 90 degrees to the racing line before with no damage, kinda amusing :p

I didn't really think it was gonna go official tbh, I'd checked with ~15 minutes to go and it was just me, then just completely forgot somehow, came back to my pc, remembered and saw 'Forfeit' rather than withdraw and thought I'd be losing a good chunk of irating but thanks to attrition I only lost 2 \o/

i was just proper annoyed with my self so i just rage quit..

glad ive had some good finishes this week as that rage quit didnt hurt my champ points too bad, i want to win my division while i can...

I just had what can only be described if an epic, if scruffy, race :p

It actually split for a change, so top split as usual, started 14th of 15 due to not qualifying, worked my way up to 8th I think it was with some frankly stunning overtakes before spinning out shortly afterwards, then had just over half the race to get from almost dead last back to where I 'should' be, and I was putting in some great laps, overtaking a bit ruthlessly and pushing way harder than I probably should've done.

Anyway, easily the best bit of the race was the finish, I'd only just finished chasing down the then 7th place guy (who I'd passed when he was in 9th or 10th) at the start of the last lap, was pushing hard but no opportunities until the exit of the chicane where he went into it too deep. So I got on the power nicely but had to go to the outside, was slightly quicker still and then it was a drag race to the line, culminating in (2Mb image link):
Awesome Finish

That was fun :D

awesome mate that's what it's all about, i was gunna join but I did the 6.30 and didn't want to push my luck lol.

the 6.30 was a great race for me, I was battling with Andre the whole race I was faster in s1 and 2 but he was faster than me in s3 and it made it really hard to get past and I didn't want to wreck him as last time we raced at brands hatch I ruined his race, so I owed him really so I showed some respect to him, but was a great race I got past in the end...

word dont even describe how angry i am right now...

i lead more or less the whole of the 10.30 race, i apparently i cut 130r so i had to slow down and the 3 sec gap i had to 2nd was gone so he was on my rear for the last 7 8 laps, 2mins to go i took too much of the first apex of the chicane and started to spin then 2nd place rammed me as he was too close, got wheel damage ended up 6th.. not happy at all...he did try to avoid me but that dont make me feel better...

again i had to pit but he never...

damn, that sucks.

Gotta love what we put ourselves through though, such extremes from great races to utterly horrible experiences and yet we do it time and time again, and as soon as the week is over I start looking forward to next weekend :p

yeah not happy at all, then for the first 15 mins after im like "i aint racing again"...

yeah ill need some proper practice round oulton, need to learn the racing line properly, i dont remember the track at all...

What's the participation like in the Radical? I've been neglecting the road side so I want to pick a series to race. I tried the Radical around Oulton and it's a blast! The Radical forum suggested I might have trouble finding an official race though?

nah this week at Suzuka has been very busy.

come race with us mate the radical is awesome, the community is great and there's a school hosted server on Tuesday's and it's also easy to get setups...

Yeah, the Radical really isn't that hard to find an official race for UK times, even at Charlotte which was bad for participation there were several official races for us.

It's mostly the Aus/US people who don't get the participation, but at a track like Suzuka (and Oulton next week, but maybe not VIR the week after) even they got plenty of races in I believe.

:( Just found out I'm gonna be working on-site for 5 days a week 'soon', so might end up not being able to practice on Tuesdays which would suck.

Might just ask my boss if he minds me coming back on the Tuesdays, customer will be paying for the mileage/time so not sure he'd mind, they might though :p

But no iRacing during the week, not sure how I'll cope with that boredom :p

I was hoping you'd say that because it's a fun car to drive. I did a brief practice of Oulton but it seems I'm about 9 seconds off the pace at the moment. Must try harder :p

Edit: Reading the set-up thread I was running the basic set-up which uses 17 wing. I understand that 17 wing set-ups will be quite loose? It seemed ok through most of the corners but the car kept trying to kill me on the crests.

avoid 17 wings mate there uncontrollable you did well to get round at all..

josh you work on building sites???

i got my frex shift + today, its awesome...

Nah, I'm a software engineer, basically for a 'consultancy' firm, most of the time that means working at the main office but every so often for one reason or another the customer wants us on their site, things like limited hardware availability of even silly strict nda's.

This one was supposed to be a max of 3 days a week but they want all 5. I did chat to my boss though and he doesn't care what I do, and ultimately the cost to them is roughly the same when you work it out.
