It's already been verified that they killed babies....

Why are you guys disputing this? Getting awful close to minimising
It hasn't been officially confirmed. It's come from one reporter from i24 News. The IDF have not confirmed it.

Sky News talking about the claim.

I'm not saying it hasn't happened. I'm waiting for official confirmation.

I feel sorry for the hostages imagine what they are going through especially the women i bet most of them have been raped multiple times i expect we are going to see some beheading videos soon as well.

There have been multiple quotes from people describing the scenes as something out of a horror movie- ""something out of a scene of an apocalyptic movie, or something related to zombies""

Maybe the beheadings are chinese whispers, but it certainly sounds like it involved babies/infants and that it was horrific.

Probably true Islamists are known for chopping people's heads off its their trademark.

Any more countries you want to invade under the banner of weapons of mass destruction?

This turned out to be a lie too.

Then why don't you join the telegram channel to see for yourself what they've done? I'm sure there is nothing there apart from some minor vandalizing like grafiti.

There's enough verified information about atrocities that it doesn't really change things whether a specific number of children or babies were killed in a specific location and whether any of them were killed in a particular way. Although beheading is subjectively a level of savagery and hate above execution by firearm, so obviously can see why it's captured attention.

It doesn't help anyone if stories are being made up or misreported though, so have to hope journalists do their due diligence. Given the range of claims and apparent sources (seems like a lot leads back to a single i24 reporter and some vague comments from an army officer) and the fact that more reliable sources haven't yet been identified it unfortunately seems like some of them might not be doing a very thorough job.

I don't need to see it. I just want to see an official statement about it. A statement from the IDF, Mossad would do?

I'm not saying it hasn't happened. But I think it's wise to have confirmation because an activity like that is justification for a savage retaliation.

My position on Hamas is they need to be destroyed. They are an offshoot of an organisation connected to the Nazis.

Murdering civilians, whether Hamas or the Israeli government do it, is deeply wrong and will not result in anything good for us or them. Some proper reporting to counterbalance all the 'laughing Arabs' videos (no ordinary civilians are actually laughing or celebrating this):

"People fear the worst is yet to come"

It almost certainly is.

As someone who's a noob in this space..

What did hamas hope to achieve by this? Or am I in error by implying that they even think in this way?

Is it just a bunch of savages who don't care about what happens in any way? Or have they made some ridiculous error of judgement?

I swaying to the former as surely the outcome of what they have done is what is unfolding?

Yeh. You cannot assume the rationality of a group that carries out the sorts of things they have been doing to civilians.

I think most of it is just bred from irrational hatred/religious animosity, with very little forethought or acknowledgement of the consequences.

They clearly care extremely little for the lives of their fellow Palestinians.

So many variables in a fragmented, stupid organisation like Hamas whose leadership is far removed from any consequence.

Point 3 above is what I am saying should be key to Israel’s strategy. Some on this thread and more importantly key Israeli personnel were declaring they would leave no building standing. So I was not talking about what they are doing now, but what some wanted them to do purely as revenge. Some were also justifying it (on this thread) with utter nonsense about all Palestinians being Hamas and thus legitimate targets.
But it is...only key point 3. To achieve the first two goals will likely require wholesale desolation and changing the landscape to bury the tunnels initially to prevent ingress/egress and allow for tanks to gain access with reduced likelyhood of places for Hamas gunmen to pop in and out of. What part of Netanyahu's speech was unclear on that point? He said Israel will exact a price that will be remembered for decades (or generations) to come and any place that Hamas operates from will be turned into rubble. He warned the Gazan's to clear the area of known Hamas activity. People will moan "Where will they go?". They can try the Rafah border if Egypt wants to open it. Personally, I am uncertain that the Egyptians want to do that after being attacked there by Islamist groups so are not looking to import problems. However, direct your ire at the Egyptians not Israel in that case. Israel is at war with the government of Gaza, Egypt isn't.

If Egypt refuses to open their borders, that can hardly be the fault of the Israelis that even the Egyptians don't want to import a Muslim Brotherhood/Hamas/ISIS/PIJ etc terror threat into their country. As I have said before, you lie down with dogs, you wake up with fleas. It is not Israel's problem to support Gaza. Gaza is it's own nation state with a failed attempt at democracy. The fact that the two sovereign countries bordering it don't want to do business with it should say something about who needs to change.

In the meantime, as always, ordinary people will suffer at the expense of those at the top and terrorists.
