Some serious wisdom from someone who's seen it all IMHO. It takes a great deal of courage to take a stand that tries to rise above the immediate visceral reaction to events such as these, and I've always figured that if you can have as many critics on the left as the right, as the BBC often seems to have, then you're probably more or less in the right place.

The U.S. confirms its sending Dwight D Eisenhower carrier strike group to the Mediterranean Sea after the Gerald R. Ford strike group was sent toward the coast of Israel The second aircraft carrier will be kept in the region as a back-up incase something would happen
lol

Must be expecting something to kick off

It is weird how some nations, not necessarily the wrong thing to do, are evacuating their citizens and some staff as if they expect a major escalation but so far I'm not really seeing the potential for it.

Surprised the US aren't sending a Carrier Group into the Persian Gulf, that was the old way of convincing Iraq and Iran to play ball.
They don't need a carrier group to go after Lebanon

Seems like a good time for China to invade Taiwan
Would be an interesting but not inconceivable distraction technique. Especially if it does escalate more in the region and consume more resources. Although I imagine in reality the amount of resources of the US let alone NATO being activated currently is tiny.

I think China still needs Tiwan *intact* at the moment. They are working to get to a point where they don't need Tiwan's tech, but I don't think they're ready yet.

It'll definitely be a dangerous moment, when/if China has advanced technical capabilities sufficient to detach from the rest of the world, while attacking Taiwan would disrupt the rest of the world's supply of advanced semi-conductors, etc. one of the reasons TSMC has been constructing some facilities in the US.

Yeah massive amount of especially US and EU money being ploughed into chip wafer manufacturing plants at the moment, feels like the UK will miss out though, we don't see to be interested unless we're trying to prop up our car industry!

A lot of this stuff is happening thanks to Iranian interference. One of the issues we introduced into the world was removing the main competitor to Iran (Iraq) from the equation.
And we created modern Iran. Seriously, Britain and the US staged coup after coup and basically caused the Islamic revolution, there.

It's quicker to list the countries we haven't had a hand in stirring up and ruining, tbh.
