Isn't the PSS more akin to a police force / MI5-style group than an army though?

I guess it's all semantics though and neither side is in the position of claiming a moral high ground. I have huge sympathy for both the Israeli and Palestine civilians that will lose their lives in this conflict.

But given your comparison, are you saying the Palestinian land on which illegal settlements are built is a holding area for illegal immigrants?

You are probably right.

The conflict really doesn't serve any other purpose, and Hamas love to make martyrs, even if it is at the cost of their own people. They know that Israel will over-react and are hoping it will destroy any change of alignment with other Arab nations.

It may have reached that already, which, I think, is why the West is rather worried about the situation.

The west should not have and should not be putting it's unilateral support behind Israel. There's always been an imbalance of power there already and the west is not helping the matter by increasing that imbalance.

What is needed though is for Palestinians to stop backing Hama's. Resistance is one thing and mass murder of civilians an entirely different level. Two wrongs don't make a right. If Hama's wont change from wanting to eliminate all Jews then it won't end well.
 
There destroying Hamas but it must be done properly there a lot of poor Palestinians getting caught up in this mess from the bombings now, I know its sensitive and a lot of Israelis are hurting but more slaughter dosnt do anything but breed the next men to attack you, you wipe out there family they will come back with hatred it does nothing.

There at about 500 civilians killed in Gaza now Im all for revenge as its dispicable for what they done but Israel always had the most incredible firepower over Gaza there also bombing places where the hostages could well be.

War everywhere it really just makes you want to stop the earth spinning for just long enough to get off, but it's not a possibility unfortunately.
