Maybe they should have thought about the consequences before they decided to murder a load of unarmed Israelis.
You can use that logic to justify literally anything, can't you.

"If they hadn't wanted Israel to murder every living Palestinian, they should have thought about that before becoming terrorists and doing what terrorists do."

I guess there are no innocent Palestinians, either... they're all the same as Hamas, yes?

No, there's lots of innocent Palestinians. But what did people think would happen?

Israel is a plural democracy with an extremely wide range of political parties and hence political outlooks. Although they have cut off water and electricity into Gaza I genuinely can't imagine them maintaining that to the point that there are mass casualties from starvation or thirst. I don't think the internal politics of Israel would allow such terrible act even under the current circumstances. I can only guess that this is an attempt to make a hostile environment for Hamas, not to kill.

Overnight there were massive air strikes. I was in an area of Gaza City where most buildings were destroyed.

There were terrifying sounds of explosions, blasts in the sky, and a barrage of smoke and flames through the night.

I live in a residential building with about 20 families. The kids were screaming throughout the night and nobody had a moment's sleep.

In 20 years of covering this area, last night was the toughest I have witnessed.

This morning I managed to get out. I was driving through rubble everywhere.

Buildings are collapsing in the street and entire neighbourhoods have been flattened.

Government and university buildings, infrastructure, a mosque and a police station have been destroyed.

Some of the buildings I recognise. But some you can't recognise from the scale of the destruction in this neighbourhood.
Via BBC live feed.

And this is "Just the start," say Israel. There's going to be nothing left.

Its all down to hamas. Their cowardly, murdering attacks...

I do hope that Israel will stop bombing now. Concentrate on getting the hostages freed.

Just calling out your blatant hypocrisy.
Hamas is not the Palestinian people.

Hamas aren't like Fatah. There will be no two State solution as long as Hamas is in power.

I think Israel should stop at the border and exchange hostages for the electricity, water etc to be turned on again. Then hopefully both sides can hold back until tensions of the moment calm down.

It's beyond obvious that when you shut down the border completely, that yes, you can stop food getting in.
Except when the border was used to prevent the flow of things capable of being turned into weapons, Hamas managed to find a way to do that. Instead of using things for the positive benefit of the people who voted them in, they elected rather to bring in weapons or material to build tunnels, weapons and things of death rather then building positive, life enhancing things all whilst complaining about the borders being closed.

It's difficult to see what Hamas' end game is supposed to be here, unless it's to go down in a blaze of martyred glory. I cannot see them benefiting from the current chaos, whether in the short or long term. So what was the ultimate goal?

Seeing appalling response from our politicians last 24hrs. Language being used designed to excuse and justify any killing of innocent civilians in Gaza attacks. It will only embolden the Israeli government to use indiscriminate attacks.
