Up until now, yet Israel still refuses to discuss peace with Hamas. Surely now that Hamas have stated they are willing to recognise Israel as part of any negotiated settlement peace talks should begin?

Yes, the recent conflict has brought Iran and Hamas closer together but there was an opportunity and Israel never seized it. This is an interesting article on Israel's thoughts on the two state solution:

Basically it seems to mean that the Israelis can go about their everyday business of terrorising the Palestinians by blowing up infrastructure and houses under the pretence that they are destroying tunnels and the Palestinians should make no attempt to stop them.

Doubtless Obama and Cameron et al would enthusiastically approve.

There will never be peace in Israel/Palestine until Israel has 100% of Palestine. It's Israels' goal to get all the land, and you cannot take more and more land when you are at peace.

How the West can keep turning a blind eye, or just play lip service, to the situation is beyond me. The Israelis have been 'getting away with it' for far too long, the US, and the rest of the west, needs to grow a pair because at the moment they are Netanyahus' bitch! The time to do something is now!

No news coverage about that. Had it been a white boy, non believer etc who died in Zionist land then would have been main stream headline story.
