It's funny how (fuel shortages)

Pretty sure that if things got really dire, lots of (not all obviously) of people now have the capability to work from home, saving fuel for those that most need it. Similarly to save fuel you can opt to not carry out certain journeys via a car, or share you car with friends/neighbours if you are going to the supermarket etc. or even good old fashioned car sharing to work if you have someone on your route.

Maybe it is time the current generation start to apricate what they take for granted, I can't imagine how well some people would cope with true war time rationing.
Just imagine if the kids had to walk to school:eek:

Go EV like me:) petrol & diesel users should pay CO2 tax IMO

Sorry to rain on your 'I'm green as I drive an EV' parade, but you'll need to do up to 68k miles before an EV will break even with the same model ICE equivalent.

That's from a study by Volvo who already have EV models, based on building an XC40 from the same plant EV vs ICE drive train.

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/content/news/petrol-or-electric-which-is-actually-greenest

I'm not anti-EV, but let's not forget EVs have downsides ranging from increased CO² during production to the pressures put on other natural resources such as water for filtering lithium.

Probably best not to be I'm holier than thou if you have any private self powered vehicle.

I ignore adverts like auto trader because I think it reflects badly on the vendors, Well EV have taken more orders because of fuel, I have an charging point app and seen 43 thousand electrical charging points all over the UK map London have more than any city I couldn't believe it, I sure there is small down side to EV but Thanks:) but can I live with it, I change my old 2008 for an new EV GT2008 model this year much quiet when driving wouldn't go back now wife love it too much more than me.

I really don't think that price would stop people from panic buying

They aren't panic buying fuel but there does seem to be a run on fresh fruit and veg in the supermarkets lately I'm expecting bog rolls to be next. What do they expect to do with all those bananas they've stockpiled? Protect them from teh great banana shortage of 2022? The mind boggles.

Sorry I guess I'm just one of the plebs who doesn't anywhere to plug the thing in. Carry on driving your near silent death machine though (sooner or later someones going to be run over because they didn't hear an EV coming and they're going to have to add a noise. Like the "caution - vehicle reversing" that lorries have. "Caution! Electric Vehicle is pulling away!")

I nearly ran over a guy who didn't even look up from his phone before starting to cross a road I was already turning into the other day, in the past I've also nearly taken out someone again staring at their phone and stepping straight out into the road except that time I was on my motorbike which made a lot of noise.

You can't help stupid.

It isn't an advert, it's an article about a report from a car manufacturer that produces EVs and who happens to call Sweden, one of the most environmentally responsibie cultures in the world, home.

Small downsides? If you wish to bury your head in the sand, that's your perogative. It's hypocritical of people to claim they're greener than others because they drive an EV when their carbon foot print in the short term is higher, and let's not mention the fact they're probably still happy to partake in high carbon footprint activities such as having children, flying and eating meat.

Of course there are benefits of EVs such as cleaner air where they're used, but nobody can claim to be green when they have their own personal vehicle.

Home heating oil in Northern Ireland seems to have jumped from an expensive £530 at the start of the week for 900L, to over £930 now.
Seems we have supply shortage.

Agreed. There is nothing remotely green about an ev vehicle. Less harmful than a fossil fuel powered one? Absolutely, but less harmful not green. Planting a tree is green.

People also forget that ev cars are full of plastics, need tyres, servicing etc and rely heavily on the petrochemical industry.

I wave by when you queuing up for fuel this year:p

I have 150 gallons plus of diesel stored and a fair amount of petrol if the power goes off, ready for instant use, how much electricity have you stored, enough for over 6000 miles? ;) There's a bint called Greta just looking for a guy like you, go get her, but you won't find her in Germany, they are realizing just where she leads the unthinking ;)
