Most neurologists/surgeons/specialists do private work on the side. Can the person you spoke to not get a figure of paying everybody to get in a room on such and such date and all sit down together which the privately done scans to work out the next step.

Money talks after all (sadly) and paying everyone who needs to be there for an hour isnt going to be astronomical nor impossible. Im sure if it was David Beckhams kids (where money is no object) then everything would get done there and then, so why should it be any different because your Skywalker off OCUK, you have the money at the end of the day.

Just a thought. I just know from experience when we've offered specialists looking after the child I care for money, then suddenly time wasnt an issue.
 
I don't know much about such things but given the amounts for the scan alone I can't see it being possible to achieve.
 
I can see the full thing done privately being in the 10s of thousands.

We may have not met the primary aim but we have brought a little more security to the situation. And at least Skywalker and his family have one less thing to worry about.

Money does talk and we are talking stupid money for something like that unless you can capture the hearts of those who would be brought to the table.

I dont think we should specifically aim for a figure to be raised, more to just realise that anything that is raised can be put to good use even if its not a case of bringing things forward. Making day to day life better for those involved while waiting is just as valuable as bringing the scans forward imo :]
 
I'd just like to echo what some of the others have said, all I can hope for is that the money makes a difference in some way - even if it just means you can worry less about taking time off work etc

Tear jerking stuff this..

I'm amazed that there are still generous people left in this world.

Here, i won a tenner on the lottery at the weekend, all i was going to do was drink it... At least it can now go to a good cause.

My thoughts are with you and your family dude, all the best.
 
It's a shame you can't jump the list so to speak but in my eyes it's fair.

Unfourtunatly everyone has to wait, and I think the doctors and surgeons know best and would not put anyone in any immediate danger. I'm sure if needed you'd be 'bumped up'.

Hopefully this can make things that bit easier, don't ever feel guilty as I don't think it was even Gilly's original intention for the money to be for treatment... it's for you and your family to do what you deem best!

I think its time OCUK came out of hiding and hit the papers/TV ?

As someone already mentioned, im sure OcUk could strike a donation deal with a big manufactuer, as you are such a big company. Just a thought though.

My hearty goes out to you Skywalker, and if you cannot speed things up with the money, then Disney Land is your best bet though. France one sucks, go to Florida :D:D

i only gave a little but im hoping that if everyone gives a little then it makes a lot.

thoughts are with you and your family. hope all of this helps you feel that your not all alone in dealing with this!
 
It's a pity that things can't be sped up but my donation was for doing whatever can be done to make all your lives easier at this time.

It would be nice to see a big company take this up but while this might prove that individuals are still generous the same probably can't be said for most companys. Maybe some local papers might run the story though and get more publicity. It's a thought atleast? What is stoke on trents local fish wrapper?
 
What an amazing community, I highly doubt no other forum would have made this amount of money is such a short time.

Kudos to all who have donated.
