I've done it - I'm half the man I used to be.

It's buried somewhere in the thread.

Simple really, walk five miles per day and eat less than 2,000 calories. No fad, nothing complicated, just calories in vs calories out.

Walking? 6 miles? I though the average was around 3 miles an hour for walking ?

And? Doesn't mean you have to go out and do it after work. Just fit in durying your day in places. It's pretty darn easy to do if you want to. Walk places rather than using the car.

No no I mean 6 miles in 1 hour? WALKING? Is that really possible? Must be a brisk walk/jog surely?

Edit: and I know you're absolutely right about fitting it into the day. It must be done.

Finding the time to walk five miles per day is easy. Got a job? Get up half an hour early, make your normal commute (it'll be easier, less people about) and then go for a walk. Do you take a lunch break? Go for a walk. It's really not difficult. In the summer months, when you're at home in the evening, pop out for a stroll for twenty minutes.

It's simply a case of getting into the habit. Once you settle in, it's very easy and I now find that if I don't go for a walk, I get restless. I've already done over seven miles today

It's like anything else, if you want to do it, you'll find time. If you don't, you'll find excuses :)

As for speed - I walk quickly, very quickly in fact. Nobody _ever_ overtakes me who's walking and I always catch people up going in the same direction. I walk at almost exactly 4.5mph and I can maintain that for hours. I've tried walking on a treadmill and managed just a bit under 5.5mph but I couldn't maintain it and I was absolutely exhausted after half an hour. 6mph would be a slow jog, not a walk.

I love the precision here. I also love the simplicity of your whole routine, great work
