January 9 Launch Date for AMD Radeon HD 7900

So... my burning question remains, should I cancel my £289 Nvidia 570 GTX 2560MB and wait or not? (In stock on the 23rd of Dec)

I've not cancelled it yet, but still can.

G

Seeing as you're Nvidia only. I wouldn't bother no. 289 is currently a good deal and socks are low on 570s so worst case scenario 570 2.5GB becomes 289 as standard. Even if it drops to 269 or even 259 I'd still buy now because it's still a fair bit of money and you are paying to use it NOW, well Dec 16th iirc.

That's only because you cannot do AMD, that would be a different response:D

EDIT: oh 23rd December

So want a new card but cost is likely to be prohibitive ATM.. Unless a tasty Xmas bonus and appraisal bonus happens.. And in the current economic climate I'm not too hopeful of that :(

haha :) I have a hacksaw and a penchant for good graphics, anything is possible lol

Well that's opened up a can of worms....

I'd be tempted to cancel it in that case in hope that a 7950 is within reach by launch for 289 ish, benchmarks should be around by then or short after so you can judge it Vs the 570.

You've got the 280, right? Like I've said several times, it's not like you're stuck with onboard gfx.

Just be careful with that saw ! :D

What does the Primitive rate mean do you know?

possibly they have gone down the route of the the core running twice as fast as the rest of the card just like the Nvidia cards do..... any other sugestions?

No, it's just how many triangles/polygons it can draw per clock, pretty sure current cards are 2 per clock too.

Hoping this is fake or a joke otherwise AMD Tessellation is still crippled compared to Nvidia's.

The results are blanked out so we cant tell anything from it. What we can see is that when the tesselation factor goes past 3 the 7970 starts pulling away from the 6970 in tesselation rate.

laughing out loud what is the point of them leaking the slides with the results blanked out.
is there anything to be read into it that the blank boxes extend very close the the yellow performance maker of the 6970.

The primitives most certainly refers to graphics primitives per clock cycle. It's not info usually displayed on graphics cards specs, which may have confused some.

Exactly what I thought and them slides tell us nothing that we already know. Please use hosts that don't have 100's of adds and windows that spawn out of nowhere.

There were ads? Protip: Get ad-block plus addon.

Oooh cant wait to see what happens on the 22nd. Think I will still be waiting for Kepler though and comparing before committing to buy.
