January Transfer Window 2010/2011 Season Rumours/Signings

There's absolutely no chance of this deal going through in time.

The only price I can see Liverpool accepting is over £50m. Chelsea will come back with a bid today of around £40m, have it turned down again, and then they've only got just over a day to table another bid, let alone have it accepted, sort out terms and medical etc.

Roman has left it too late.

You can't really criticize Torres for wanting to go, though. He's quite easily the best player in the world not challenging for major club honours, and he knows it.

Bigger players have left liverpool. We don't have to find a superstar.

Rush left, and King kenny signed;
Aldridge, who scored 29, Barnes 18, Beardsley 17, and Houghton added a further seven — an incredible 71 goals from these signings, and none of them were 'World class' signings at their arrival.

Real Madrid to put in an offer for Torres? RM are trying to buy every unsettled striker right now. lol. They must really hate having to field Benzema every week.

Its a no brainer for a club to accept a bid of £40+ million. You just cannot reject those sort of bids. With Saurez in, selling Torres makes sense.

This. Liverpool are probably not gonna be in the champions league next season and if torres stays he will have wasted more of the best footballing years he has. He obviously feels that he's been misled by the club's owners time and time again and has lost patience. He's only submitted the transfer request now because he feels he has no other way out.

It may be too late but I really hope he ends up at chelsea. The good news for liverpool is that suarez is the first really good player they've signed in a long while.

While I suspect Torres is currently being badly advised by his agent, like Rooney was, it's far easier to understand why Torres wants to leave.

In what way was Rooney badly advised by his agent "by a **** and get a vastly improved contract, get richer, win", and he did, thats pretty good advice is it not?

Why does everyone love Kranjaer so much, I find him vastly overrated.

He's vastly overrated, but still a very decent player, and its more for the cost than the ability. He went to Spurs for what, 5-6mil, or was it even less, he's unused and should be pretty cheap to buy, infact likely cheaper than Adam's.

The difference in Adams/Kranjcar's value is that Adams is Pools(maybe boths :p ) best player, while Kranjcar is just sucking wages down that Harry could spend on several new players, Blackpool aren't keen to see Adam's go and Spurs are keen to get shot of Niko.

Niko for 5mil is a MUCH better deal than Adam's for 10mil +. Both would be good at Liverpool, to win a title they need more than 4 players though, they need two wingers, another striker(two if Torres goes) a left and right back, and at least one CB. Assuming Agger gets back to form, thats one decent CB they have, no left/right back, Aurelio ish but is a injury prone and not very fit player. Wingers, they have no one remotely good enough, strikers, with Suarez and Torres they have two, they need another Chelsea have Drogba/Anelka, one isn't playing well they struggle massively.

The real question is, why didn't Chelsea just jump in, offer 22mil for Suarez, get a cheaper and younger player, why pay 40mil for a moody Torres? Easier to get, less public fighting between the clubs, could have been done within a couple days and it would have been funny as hell :p

Kranjcar went to Spurs for 1-2 million. Was a bargain and if it wasn't for Modric then he would have been a key player for us, infact when Modric was injured with his fractured leg he stepped up to it. The 1st season he was with us he was fantastic, and with a run of games with a decent side he would be a great signing.

It's only good advice if you're only interested in money DM.

Considering football is about money, that makes it good advice then I assume?

If Torres ends up costing 50mil over 5 years, thats a further 10mil a year loss, and 10 mil in wages a year he'll cost Chelsea, who will be desparately trying to get under the allowed losses limit that UEFA will allow for qualification into the champions league in a few years. Suarez would have cost half as much, and be on half the wages, which would have put them 10mil a year closer to their target.

He's younger, he might turn out to be the better player, he offers a lot more, Drogba is a great front man, though slightly old now and not massively long term thinking, but what Chelsea really need is someone more like Suarez for the Malouda/Anelka positions right now. I'd say in each and every way Suarez is a better option for CHelsea.

What on earth are you going on about now DM?

Rooney was badly advised by his agent. He ended up looking like a **** and damaged his reputation with the Utd fans and he done that for an extra £30-40k per week, when he was already likely to get £150k per week.

That extra money makes no difference whatsoever to Rooney and had it not have been for his agent, he'd not have had a 2nd thought over accepting Utd's initial offer.

True money matters little to Rooney, since he will now just spend twice as much on the mugs game that is gambling. I don't see Rooney as a sensible footballer who invests in things outside of football like Owen with property, and Horses.

Do agents really advise their players or is it more the case of leave it to me and I can get you x amount of money per week. Lets be honest footballers are not the sharpest knife in the draw, do we really think footballers suddenly decided that they would have image rights written into their contracts, no this was agents just finding another way to make money.

We now have "players" making demands of clubs, wanting to know their future intentions. Players have to much power, to the detriment of football.

That is stupid money, IMO not worth more than 15M, but I guess English players come at a crazy premium.

I would have thought we could have got the green monster from Porto for around that much, who is a far better player than Carroll.

Glad we turned it down! Wouldn't have accpeted 35 for him! He is an integral part of our team and a local lad who cares to boot. On this seasons form hes better than Torres so I want 50mil  :p

Lol @ the Torres situation as well, so much for loyalty and another pinprick to the belief that they are a massive club. They were a massive club but not anymore
