Far more potential than Akinfeev not as good at the moment as neuer or lloris but all the potential in the world. At a guess I'd say we'd ask Vds to stay on for a year and work beside him I these rumours were true. I'd be pleased though.
Lloris simply isn't very good, again it is mostly for France I end up seeing him lately, but he came out and made a bunch of mistakes against England, in the world cup he looked an absolute joke and recently in the CL he was making mistakes all over the place. Maybe he was good a couple years ago but right now I'd stick with Fabianski over paying out big for Lloris, Lloris looks like a marginally better Almunia at the moment.
De Gae is FANTASTIC, against the best teams around last year he was pretty much man of the match, he's barely played so far, hasn't had close to a full season and is as cheap as he'll ever be. For a keeper whose
20, has played 30 leagues games in two seasons, helped win a Uefa cup final, saved a penalty and helped them win against Inter Milan in the Super Cup.
He's by far the most promising 20 year old keeper around, by far the best keeper under 24 around and probably has potential to be the best keeper in the world for the next 15 years. Arsenal should be getting him.
You do know that Wenger did exactly this six months ago with Campbell? Why would Arsenal's attackers need guidance from Pires? They're already good.
No idea what your point is, again, Pires is 37, he could be coaching at Arsenal till he's 65, its probably fair to say a fair few youths will train at Arsenal in the next 30 years, and attackers. This is ignoring we don't have a single winger anywhere near the same class as Bobby, nor that we don't have lots of younger players who can learn from him, nor would his experience go amiss in the dressing room at half time in tough games.
Worth pointing out I guess that Campbell was well above average for us after he actually signed, played in some big games, played well, and hence my surprise Wenger was dumb enough to not pick Pires up under the exact same situation as Campbell.
