Who ever Newcastle do sign, they will do it safe in the knowledge that the selling club are aware they have just done a deal worth £35 million.

From a purely footballing point of view - sure, but you can't be pleased you're paying so far over the odds for Carroll (and arguably Suarez)?

1737: About 10m people went rushing to check the official Liverpool website after that announcement at 1726... and have crashed it completely by the looks of things. We await confirmation of the fee, but Liverpool say it is a club record.

Not pleased about the price especially, though time will show whether it was a good investment or not, but just happy to get 2 "strikers" regardless of the cost tbh
