Saying that Liverpool shouldn't expect much from Carroll and he could do well, but he might buckle under the weight of expectation.
Personally I think Carroll will do well, I don't agree with how much was paid for him though.

I think Torres needs to realise the meaning of the word timing and who he chooses to join.

Christ Purdy, you talk worse **** than who you're replying to.
He said he doesn't like Torres because he scuffs penalty spots when barely any other player in similar situations acts out in a similar manner. Seems like a fairly good reason to most comptenant human beings, but oh well let's go on pretending everyone throws a stroppy like the Spanish tranvestite and everyone is blinkered to their prejudice but you.
Other players have done similar things, the issue with Torres is the majority of Liverpool fans expected better of him. We thought that he was 1 of the few players around these days that had a bit of loyalty and we were wrong.
I'll admit I'm gutted he's left. He's the best striker in the world in my opinion and in an ideal world we'd have kept him and brought in top players to play around him. Once he decided he wanted to leave it was just a case of whether it was best for the club to let him go now or in the summer and clearly once he showed his true colours, Dalglish, Comolli and whoever else, decided it was best he went now.
Again, in an ideal world once it was decided he was going, you'd have wanted him to go abroad but with Real or Barca not being possible destinations that wasn't possible.
From a business point of view, by getting £50m for him we've made the best of a bad situation. Only time will tell whether signing Carroll and Suarez (although he was signing anyway) were the best possible replacements.
On paper is our squad stronger with Suarez and Carroll instead of Torres? Possibly but the reality is that we're going to be far better off with a hungry Suarez and Carroll than an unhappy Torres.
One thing's for certain though, I'm more optimistic about the future of the club now - without Torres, Alonso, Mascherano etc -than I was under the previous ownership and those players still at the club.
I think we're all pretty amazed he didn't leave last season, so to get another half a season out of him, however good he's been, and 50 million, I think you're laughing.
Torres had a great World Cup didn't he, been in dazzling form since.
I don't think Torres is the best striker in the World, but it's down to opinion, he's dropped off a lot. I still think on form he's one of the best and a fantastic player![]()
Name me a striker that has won the WC and scored in the European Championship, he is world class, best player in the world to score from inside the box, on the turn, near the half way line from a run. That is the true sign of class.
Shame Liverpool are so low in the league and devalued, would you stay at your job knowing you could earn more, go to a business that has more money and better prospects?
Wasn't happy that Torres decided to move when he did and I was even unhappier to hear of the club he wanted to move to but if that interview is true I hope someone goes through his knee and ends his career.
The problem isn't that he's left. A lot of Liverpool fans understand the reasons why he wanted out - although his decision to join Chelsea was a surprise. It's the lack of class around the way he's left the club that's the issue.
It was bad enough that he's joining Chelsea but had he waited until the summer and given the club more time to prepare for his exit, a lot of Liverpool fans would find it difficult to criticise him too much. Had he even made it clear at the start of this transfer window he might have been forgiven. But he chose (and I suspect planned with Chelsea) to leave it as late in the day as possible, in order to force the issue and leave Liverpool with a decision of selling to Chelsea or having an unhappy player on our hands for 6 months. I'm just glad the club stood firm and held out for a decent fee for him.
torres played awful in the world cup and was subbed in most if not all his matches and even dropped from the team for a match was he not?
but then what was his excuse for the world cup? the best team in the world yet he still played terrible
how do you know he hadn't privately told the club several months ago? the club refused so he went public in order to get his way.
I wouldn't say Torres is back on track yet.
When he joined I thought he was bloody ace, give him the ball and he'd score. He's just been a shadow of his former self for a while now. Don't know if it's because he's been unhappy, but if he'd have wanted to leave for that long he's had opportunity. Leaving it until last minute in a January transfer window was a bit of a shock.
From around £100k to £180k I think.
