January Transfer Window 2010/2011 Season Rumours/Signings

so what the dailymail tells me is this. real didnt care who he went to. liverpool were interested, but VdV wanted spurs instead.

If liverpool were interested then, clearly, they had time to be interested and in which case so did we.

And this proves what? Everyone looks good on youtube.QUOTE]

i did search YT for weebull but nothing of note. any links? ill critique u out of 10 if u want.

You do know Manucho was woeful on loan to Hull, don't you? Maybe, just maybe, Ferguson saw he wasn't up to much in training, and decided to loan him out to see how he did. Lo and behold, he wasn't much cop, and he junked him.

"On 21 December 2007, it was announced that Manucho had agreed to sign for English Premier League champions Manchester United. He joined the club in January 2008 on a three-year contract. Prior to the announcement, Manucho had been on a three-week trial with the Manchester club, during which he managed to impress United manager Sir Alex Ferguson enough to earn himself a contract."

ah right, so he looks really good. and then suddenly he what? just gives up and becomes terrible?

maybe he should have spotted this before paying the cash dont cha think?

I like that you've now moved on from criticising Ferguson for not signing everyone decent, to criticising him for not giving crap players a chance in the first team. Where are Dong and Manucho now?

my issue is the inconsistency.

How many games did bellion get? at least 24 and he was utterly woeful.

Manucho? 1? 1 league game?

Dong - we made him waste 3 good years of his life playing in belgium being top scorer etc... we gave him next to no time and got rid.

VdV was proven to be great in various leagues, for his nation (holland) etc..

so what the dailymail tells me is this. real didnt care who he went to.
Tell me where it says that. Please. Exactly.

I'm going to hold off on the rest of your nonsense just so you can address this specifically.

Please tell me exactly where that article states that Real Madrid were willing to sell VdV to anybody, because all I see is:

Bayern Munich = Supposedly offered a higher bid before deadline, apparently never happened.
Liverpool = "interest", at an unspecified price or time frame.
Tottenham = Did sign him. On deadline day.

I must be missing what you see. Is it a magic eye article?

Pinched from another forum:

Martin Jol: Well Dame [Comolli], things are looking up with squad, just a couple of players will have us kicking on. What we need--hell, crying out for--is a top drawer holding mid, someone who can break up play and keep us ticking over.

Dame: I bought Darren Bent. Very exciting English striker.

Martin Jol: I have strikers to spare, I need a holding midfielder.

Dame: Bent is a great talent. Young, English, re-sellable. Perfect.

Martin Jol: FFS.

Dame: By the way, we've finished redecorating your office. I know you said you just need a desk and a rolling chair, but we got you a recliner and a kick in the nuts. Very exciting.

I haven't read your whole debate with Nick over VdV but a couple of points on Liverpool's 'interest' in him:

Purslow met with Real when we were playing Atletico in the Europa League last season and it was being widely reported that Real offered us VdV. And again this summer Hodgson admitted that he was offered the chance to sign VdV by his agent. I'd find it hard to believe that Liverpool were the only club he was offered to.

Taken from the Beeb:
SELECTED COMOLLI SIGNINGS
Tom Huddlestone
Aaron Lennon
Jermaine Jenas
Benoit Assou-Ekotto
Dimitar Berbatov
Didier Zakora
Gareth Bale
Jonathan Woodgate
Luka Modric
Heurelho Gomes
Grzegorz Rasiak
Mido
Ricardo Rocha
Darren Bent
Giovani dos Santos
Roman Pavlyuchenko
Vedran Corluka

Someone hasn't done their homework properly, Huddlestone and Lennon were both Frank Arnesen signings.

Thanks for clarifying about the youtube thing Nickg.

where is the 'real will only sell to a non rival' statement then?

it isn't there. it's like you are making something up out of nothing. i am saying that the article doesnt back you up because it doesnt state that, 'real said "we wont sell him to a rival"'

therefore, surely then, the onus is on you to prove that Man Utd were refused a chance to speak to him to prove your point. that he was offered to liverpool and others doesnt help your case at all.

All im saying is this;

Fergie doesnt think we needed him. we missed him. he's tearing the league up. it was a mistake, can we all just admit it and walk away, instead of making things up?

where is the 'real will only sell to a non rival' statement then?
When did I ever say that?

Let's try taking this step-by-step, because you're clearly struggling with understanding the idea of there being more than one poster expressing more than one opinion on here:
I was under the impression VdV was offered to Tottenham rather than the other way round and that RM wouldn't have sold to a (perceived) european competitor?
well he was about to sign for bayern munich
Seems pretty easy to follow to me. One guy posted a rumour. You claimed it was nonsense based on a "fact". I pointed out that said "fact" wasn't true. Why am I wrong here?

you again said:
it isn't there. it's like you are making something up out of nothing.
Hahahaha. You've:

a) Claimed that a daily mail article stated Real would sell to anybody, when it does nothing of the sort.
b) Claimed I said the article states the opposite, when I said no such thing.
c) Conveniently ignored the previous two points and now claim I should back up a view I never expressed.

And you accuse me of making stuff up? Priceless.

I'd be ******* shocked if we hadn't been offered VdV multiple times over the years, possibly as part of the Ronaldo deal but almost certainly in the summers since. It seemed like he was being pimped out to everyone each summer (of course where that was coming from is another thing entirely)

This "not offering to European rivals" doesn't really add up to me, what about Sneijder?
