If Zenit and a French side come knocking for Arshavin and Chamakh next month I would bite their hands off.

Arsenal need another Striker and someone decent on the left. Oh and a pair of fullbacks made of titanium.

Telegraph reckon we're signing Gaitan but it won't be till the summer.

Apparently Ozil may be for sale in the summer as well, I don't believe that one but oh how I wish we'd of got him last year :(

Does sounds very odd, he's been pretty important for them hasn't he? As has been mentioned though I'm not sure what's up with his fitness levels. Maybe you dodged a bullet there. If you still can't do 90 minutes in a team that dominates everyone else bar 1, I'm not sure how useful he would be over here when everyone can give you a good game for 90 minutes.

24 Assists last season he got for them. Not sure on if his role is the same this season.

The Independent are reporting a similar story; that you've verbaly agreed a ~£30m fee to sign him in the summer. I'm not sure of the part in the Telegraph where they say he's a Scholes replacement though; he's predominantly a winger but can also play off the front. I've never seen him play in midfield.

And the Ozil report was linking him with a move to Liverpool which even if he was available, I can't see happening.

30m?!?!?

No way did he look worth even half that in the two games against us

Independant are saying even more - depending on success for both teams by the end of the season.

Yeah he was good - but as you said nowhere near that good

Much prefer Ozil (although I know thats a long shot) - after all SAF would never buy two highly priced players at the same time (even though they play different positions)

I had seen there were unsatisfactory rumblings about Ozil's fitness, but who knows , could be numerous factors but I cant imagine its a permanent problem (given how he is considered Internationally aswell)

I think Gaitan could (and can) play through the middle in an Ozil sort of role. If he was restricted to the wings, I don't think he'd be such a high priority.

The amount of talent that's come through Benfica recently is amazing; Ramires, Luiz, Di Maria now Gaitan and Garcia, maybe instead of spending money on Gaitan we should just spend the money nicking their scouts :p

Well I think it's more that they take a risk on South American players (Porto do as well) Mainly because they don't have the same limits we do on non EU players.

Interesting article on Gaitan

Ramires sucks, Luiz is a liability and potentially mentally deranged, Di maria, as said can't stay on his feet, he's a HUGE cheat and has done almost smeg all in any of the really tough games Real have had.

Anyway, Ozil is, IF he is being shipped out, probably being shipped out for both fitness and "big game" mentality reasons. He isn't physical at all, he doesn't fight, and I've not seen him shine in a single big game yet either, for Germany they only really had one huge game, against Spain, and then without Muller who was probably the best player in the tournament, let alone for Germany and in his absence Ozil disappeared. There is only 3-4 "big" games in La liga, and they usually decide the title, and as of yet Ozil hasn't done a thing in them. In the CL it will likely come down to the same situation.

You can get and pay for anyone to win 90% of games in La Liga pretty easily, its the final 10% of games you need players for and so far Ozil hasn't been that guy.

Undeniably talented but he really doesn't come across as having a winning mentality, he ambles through the easy games looking great but barely appears in big games. Ronaldo may have been well off his usual pace against Barca, but he still ran, he tracked back he went hard into tackles and worked hard. Ozil just doesn't fight in tough games.

Gaitan isn't worth that money. we should have bought mata or silva you know, someone who is quick, technically gifted etc instead we end up with potentially gaitan, where did it all go wrong. Fergie is quick/50/50 on 30million transfers in terms of success.

Wayne - good
Rio - pretty good

Veron - bad buy
Berbatov - really bad buy

which way will this one go?

The highlight of that post is rating Ferdinand as "pretty good".

laughs - exactly

Its a huge pity he has been so injury prone over the last few seasons, but before that he was Mr Invincible (while being a bit of an idiot off the field on occasion too)

Admittedly it wasnt vs one of the title contenders, but MOTD highlights of his movement and interceptions etc was right on the money I thought (getting back to his best perhaps?)
