bent would smash them in for liverpool

Like Robbie Keane and Bellamy (first time around) did? :p

I have doubts that Bent can play in a front two and there's no chance of Liverpool not playing Saurez even if he does drop a little deeper. Bent seems much more suited to teams that are built around him like Charlton and Sunderland were.

EDIT: It's all over twitter now that it's happening... he better get used to being called negro in training :D

Sweet jesus i can see the 30 million fee already.

If he is reasonably priced and not the only striker we sign i'd be pretty happy though.

Lol, won't be 30m, but it'll be 20+ I imagine, which is still way over the odds for him. Can't see him suiting the way you play, just as Carroll obviously doesn't.

Then again, you are always going to be dire with Downing on the wing... He was an embarrassment to behold last night, he wanted absolutely nothing to do with Richards then every time he got the ball on the right, fluffed it...

I actually thought Downing had the better of Richards last night, like you said though his end product as always was suspect. would have been a completely different game had he taken his chance when he went clean through

Well first he dragged it onto his one and only foot, then he fluffed it.

I have enjoyed watching liverpool playing this season, very much a return to the slick passing of the 90s. I thought any striker would do at the present and Bent is intelligent enough to fit into any system. The problem is suzrez and whether he can accept someone else wanting a pop at the target.

On a sidenote you can imagine the calls for a pass suarez makes to bent.......

So who on Twitter is saying we going for bent? Is it any one has ever been right in the past or is it usual a said it so x y agree and z thinks is a dead cert crap.

A couple of unreliable newspaper reports and a couple of posts on twitter/rawk.

If it was anywhere near as close as some are suggesting then I'm sure the usually more reliable journalists would be reporting something on it.

Yeah thats what i thought, Now im not agaisnt him coming here if its true but id rather we went for a player like Soldado tbh

Without knowing how much it'll take to sign either player, it's difficult to compare the two deals.

Regarding Bent specifically, I'm in two minds. On one hand, I don't believe the answer to our goalscoring issues is simply a lack of an out and out goalscorer in the side. By incorporating Bent (or similar) into our side, will we still be creating the chances we've missed? However on the other hand, we're short of a striker in our squad and Bent will provide us with something different to what we've got.

I still think that if we're only able to sign one of a DM and a striker, I'd rather we signed a DM and pushed Gerrard further forward.

Gerrard would be an immense striker tbh

I didn't mean as an out and out striker but off the front like he played both with Torres and at times with Crouch. Without Lucas we can't really play a 4-2-3-1 that allows the '3' to focus on attacking. If we signed a DM then we could play Gerrard + 2 of Bellamy, Maxi or Kuyt behind Carroll/Suarez. Imo, a front 4 of any of them wouldn't lack goals.

If the rumours of Bent to Liverpool are true, he could turn out to be a fantastic buy for them as long as the price is right.
