Think Moyes needs to go for the rising stars got to take a punt that Ryan Gauld dont look to bad from Dundee very much like Messi in way he plays?

Dennis Praet from Anderlecht plenty of others hopefully Moyes signs some decent players in the end.

Moyes still seems to have a 'buy cheap and develop' mentality. Sure Fergie did this with several players but he also knew when they needed a top player and went out to get him. Other than four or five players the first team are well short of what is required to play at the very top level. If you think about how many players in the Man UTD squad would be first pick in any other team at the moment you will struggle to count more than five at the very most, more likely two or three.

Jelavic off to Hull then. Bit odd though. Day before a match... And Martinez saying that he had given him something to think about after QPR.

Must be pretty close to what we paid for him.

To think some people used to say he was better than Suarez :o :p

I was taking the ****, I've never watched a game in my life. Although I know more about them and read some Red Sox news because of the Liverpool connection.

Arsenal failed with bid for Griezmann

There were a lot of different sites and papers linking him with us in early december so looks like more than just rumour

I can't see us buying a player like him, wanting him, yes. But a player like him would be as screwed as Vela was, who will tell him what Wenger is like. He's a really class player, getting better all the time though a large reason he's scoring more this year is he's playing as the main striker a heck of a lot more often than last year.

He's a bit too young and unknown to come in as a certain starter, he'll know Wenger will start Walcott ahead of him next year. He's too small to play the lone striker role as Arsenal play very VERY different football to Sociedad. We pass and slow attack much of the time, Sociedad are like Henry days, break neck speed attacks. He needs to be playing all the time in the next three seasons and a player of his price/name power will end up down the pecking order when injured players are back.

I can't see Vela saying anything to him other than stay where you are and only leave for a bigger club if you can certain you'll play most of the games.

he's good, but less good on the wing, he's got a bullet of a shot when he unleashes it and great movement. But he couldn't start upfront for us in general, which puts him up against Ozil, Walcott, Ramsey, Wilshire, Cazorla.... it would be career suicide and that is what Vela will tell him.

We need someone who can play upfront or on the wing, more of a striker than a winger(which is what Griezmann is) but someone more suited to doing what Giroud can do, hold up the play and bring others in to it, that isn't Griezmann at all really.

In a few years he'd cost more and be better, I'd play him over Walcott now with ease, but if he's not playing much for the next few years, he won't improve much.

I wonder how much Jelavic has cost Hull.

If it was on the cheap, i.e. similar price to what Everton paid for him, I wonder why Spurs haven't gone in for him? I'd have happily seen him come in, especially considering Defoe is on his way out again.

Think Moyes needs to go for the rising stars got to take a punt ...

Within reason yes.
However, big clubs like Man Utd, Barca, Madrid, buy big players.
Because they have the finances, they can afford to buy the best.
Lesser clubs with lesser buying power have no choice but to take risks on unproven talents and hope they come good. If they do come good, 1-2 years later, that player will be sold onto a big club, for big money. That's generally how football works.

In Summer 2013:
Madrid - G.Bale - proven talent; undoubted athleticism; performing very well at his new club; but was there any doubt?
Barcelona - Neymar; one of the big talents of Brazil; arrived for a huge fee; I saw some of the goals this guy scored and he is amazing. He is still trying to come to terms with life at Barca, BUT, he may already have turned a corner - he scored 6 goals in Dec.
Bayern Munich - Mario Götze - some say this guy may become one of the Worlds best players, very soon. He has been hampered by injury so far, but pundits seem to think this guy is a wunderkind.
Man Utd - Fellaini - at Everton he proved that he was "ok". Nothing special. In a bigger team, this guy would be a substitute. At Barca or Madird, he may not even make the bench. Apart from having a huge hair-do, I can't see anything special about this guy.

Now, any manager can make 1 bad purchase. Not a big deal. But what is worrying is that Moyes is basically saying that he is unlikely to buy any players in January. This is worrying as it would show that he (and his team) are unable to attract decent footballers.
