Ohhh Davie Moyes, Davie Davie Davie Moyes! :)

Huh?

Shame about jelavic he started with so much promise :( Still if we get anything like 4 or 5m for him it will be a result.

This is worrying as it would show that he (and his team) are unable to attract decent footballers.

No it wouldn't, it might just mean exactly what they are saying that the top players they would have ear marked aren't available until the summer.

Lets have a look at Fergies January signings shall we.....

Wilfried Zaha Crystal Palace £15,000,000 January 2013
Chris Smalling Fulham £10,000,000 January 2010
Zoran Tosic Partizan FK £7,000,000 January 2009
Ritchie De Laet Stoke City Unknown January 2009
Henrik Larsson Helsingborgs Loan January 2007
Nemanja Vidic Spartak Moscow £7,200,000 January 2006
Patrice Evra AS Monaco £5,500,000 January 2006
Fangzou Dong Dalian Shide £3,500,000 January 2004
Liam Miller Celtic Free January 2004
Louis Saha Fulham £12,825,000 January 2004
Diego Forlan Independiente £7,500,000 January 2002

I think that's correct to the start of the Jan window in 02/03? Apologies if I'm wrong. You have to go back quite a few years to find a great manager like Fergie being able to find world class players in January and he and Manu wouldn't have had your perceived notion that all of a sudden no one would want to join United.

How many in that list at the time they were signed would be considered able to get in a Real Madrid or Barca side that everyone is obsessed with comparing sides to. How many were world class at the moment they were signed?

He's like the only real real ITK there is tbh. Glad McGeady has signed, should offer something a lot more than what we've got.

A twitter thing? Fair enough I don't use twitter at all.

I can't say I ever watched McGeady, Jock football doesn't interest me and I haven't watched Spartak since he went there.

Rooney is away for warm weather training... Everlonian Athletic squad are also going away for warm weather training.... It's on!!

Nemanja Matic to Chelsea seems to be on for €35m (Portuguese media say he'll be presented on Monday). I wouldn't have minded him. :(

Being reported that he's got an agreement with Chelsea and he's refusing to play against Porto today (O Jogo).

You could also say that few from last season's sqaud were good enough for RM, but it didnt stop them from getting within a hair,s breadth of beating the Spanish side over two legs

Its not about individual qualities all the time

Saying that, ignoring those with majority of their careers infront of them ( as its impossible to know how good or bad they will end up)

Larsson, Vidic, Evra, Saha were all excellent signings at the time they were done and the slight exception of Forlan who was a disaster at Utd, but since leaving has done very well for him self ( like Veron, pretty....or very...decent player who just didnt work in the EPL)

So give or take a 50/50 split between varying levels of success and those that completely failed....probably better odds of success than summer signings lol

Of course it helps if x player is up to the Standard of Barca/ Real but its not the be all and end all of every signing.

Just saw on Italian news that Arsenal made a €30M bid for Destro (young Italian attacker).

Would sell in a heartbeat. He is a good forward, with the potential to become very very good, but he doesn't excite me like Marquinhos or Lamela did. I find him to be a very typical Italian striker, promising when young, he does a few good seasons (2/3), and then becomes 'normal.' Look at Toni, Gilardino, Borriello, Quagliarella, Matri, Osvaldo etc.

Also, Fiorentina are close to signing Man United's Anderson on loan, with the option to buy.

Seems like this is indeed happening. Wonder if Moyes has a replacement lined up?

I want Pjanic. :(

Lots of talk today about Valencia's Argentine Ever Banega, which seems reasonable for the 12m asking price - would prefer not to loose Chicharito but it appears he could become a part of the deal

If Banega got fired up again for us then he'd be good, don't think he's been great for a while though but a move could help him. World cup year for him too so could try and throw down the gauntlet.

Exactly my thoughts

He has had plenty of bad press off the pitch but most appears to be a while ago, and he is still likely to be a better option than most we currently have....as long as it is at the price I mentioned, any more expensive and it gets too risky imo

I doubt Pjanic will leave in January. They got Nainggolan to have a 'fuller' midfield, and they sold Bradley.

I do not exclude him leaving in summer though. If I had to give a percentage at this moment, I'd say around 60% he will leave in summer :(

Am told Moyes was due to take private plane to Spain for Getafe v Rayo Vallecano, but decided on Friday that Neville would go

Who could we be scouting here?! Not sure why he'd make it up either.

Sounds like PSG are interested too which puts a damper on things. :(

David Moyes spectating Cagliari-Juventus.

Is it for Astori (25(?) year old Italian CB or maybe someone from Juve? Vucinic maybe? Might be for Vidal but I'm sure Juve don't want to sell.

Just read somewhere (sorry no link) that Moyes has something stupid like €180M to spend.
