Proceedings apparently advanced with Freiburg for Fabio to go there from #mufc this window...

Expected I suppose!

Not surprised at all

Its only a question whether Rafael will follow in the summer (great player, but sometimes he is far too hotheaded, and "inexperience /youth" is no longer a justifiable excuse imo)

Isn't that potentially Zaha?

It sounded like it was both till someone realised you can only have one loan player from a team which made Cardiff having both a pretty rubbish idea. It would sound like they think Fabio is a bit of a lost cause and Zaha getting prem experience is much more important. Though frankly there are other Prem teams that would have taken Zaha anyway.

I really don't see us sanctioning a sale of mata to UTD despite league position. If he has to leave (which would be hard to swallow) then I imagine it will be to PSG.

I've got to say I completely agree. If he is sold he is not being sold on these shores.

Chelsea will want c.£40m for him and wont sell him to a league 'rival' and it is only the league 'rivals' that could actually afford to pay that for him.

PSG is a real possibility but I imagine he's likely to head back to Spain.

It's absolutely mental that Mata seems surplus to requirements at Chelsea. I'd love to see hi go to a English club just to get to see him play again, but they would be mad to sell him to United unless they know he's a coke head like Mutu.

Then again it's chelsea it wouldn't surprise me to see them sell him to whoever wants him. Equally I'd be happy to see him go to Manu in a deal with Rooney going the other way.

Id be very in fact extremely surprised if Chelsea/Mourinho allow Mata to go to Utd, who are still rivals no matter what their league position is at the moment. Forget about this season, next season Utd with Mata would be right up there in the mix of things i imagine.

I heard some rumours that Mata may be loaned to Atletico Madrid or even sold to them if they can afford to buy him.

The BBC and now Guillem Balague (I know, I know :p) are both saying there's been no bid yet but one will be made, the BBC have quoted 'senior Man Utd officials' as the source.

Fingers crossed but I'd be shocked if we can pull it off.

Edit:

According to Gustavo Villani from Fox Sports Brasil, Dante is signing for Manchester United.

What the... now that would be a signing. :D

Of all the names mentioned, to Man UTD, Juan Mata is the only one I like.
He has been voted Chelsea's player of the year a few times and everytime I have seen him play for Chelsea he has been decent.

I am not interested in any players from Sunderland.

We need players who are used to playing in big games.

Knowing Moyes, he might try and make a bid of £10M for Mata and when it gets rejected, he will be puzzled.

Who is Dante?
Have you got a link?

I would say normally it would be the most well known Dante otherwise you'd add the first name to differentiate, so most likely the Bayern CB who is exceptionally good.

He's 30, and afaik has played a lot but not all season(not sure if injury of being dropped) and there has been talk of Guardiola trying to get Pique in....

Guardiola seems to like certain players, dislike others, has forced out much better players than Dante, and brought in guys like Thiago when the existing midfield is much better already so I wouldn't put it out of the realms of possibility.

I like him as a player a lot, he'd improve your defence but ultimately I would think Jones/Smalling need to be given a real chance as a CB pairing to know if they are good enough. It wouldn't be the first place I'd buy but not the last either. If you were to lose Vidic and Rio in summer, then an older experienced CB would be required anyway.

Everyone and his dog is linked with United at the moment, if we bought just 1% of the players linked we would have about 6 full squads of players.

I'll believe any signing when they are unveiled in a press conference and to the fans.
