I wouldn't believe that about Costa, it was a $30mil euros release clause last summer when we (Liverpool) tried to get him, he has since signed a new contract.

There's also the small matter that Spanish release clauses mean **** all.

Atletico are broke though so he could be attainable but I'd imagine it would take big money after the season he's having.

We could sell Suarez for 500 million, we'd still end up worse for a good few years.

This may sound crazy, but I agree with this 100%.
Spurs are perfect example of selling 1 great player and buying many lesser players and you end up with a lesser team.

It's best to keep the star player.

And as far as Arsenal needing a striker - they are top of the league. They got beat by Man City who are arguably the best home team in the World right now. Even Bayern Munich got beat by them.

And Giroud is a fine player. He may not be a great finisher, but he has the ability to bring in other players, into play. I'm stunned that Arsenal fans are complaining when they are having one of their best seasons in the last 5 years or so. You should be enjoying your team playing.

Of course.

This is how much my client is on now

This is what my client has been offered to extend his contract

What is your club going to offer to uproot him / his family etc etc etc

2nd Part is crucial info for every negotiation cycle

Whether its in the public domain or not , the slight exceptions are probably Barca 1st XI and probably Bayern (Barca because up until very recently the only way is down professionally, and Bayern because a lot of those players are at the top club in their country and few wish to leave their country / league)

Any one part of the above may not be a long conversation (whether the client is interested /needs to leave or not, for one reason or another), and of course this also depends on whether the club wants to extend the said contract , which is not always the case.

That might be the case some of the time but I can think of several high profile examples of players, who've gone on to leave their clubs, either refuse contract talks or state that they want to wait until the end of the season so they can concentrate on their football.

The fact that talks have begun and if the Times are to be believed, a 2nd set of talks are already planned, can only be seen as a positive.

If something is refused, it has to be offered in the first place.
Offering something is the start of negotiations (unless its for free I guess).

I also said and you quoted "MOST agents", which implies there may well be a few that dont comply with the example I set.

"I want to wait until the end of the season before starting talks" in itself doesnt meant talks didnt happen after the end of the season, even if x or y player did end up leaving and going somewhere else.

You said agents go through negotiations. Refusing to open talks is not going through negotiations. Liverpool asking Suarez/his agent to open talks over a new deal and them refusing, is not the agent going through negotiations Frank.

And I'd like to know how you know most do.

And the last part is just nonsense. Michael Owen done it at Liverpool, RvP at Arsenal. They say they want to wait until the summer to stop all the questions and speculation, and then they're on their bike once the transfer window opens.

To confer with another or others in order to come to terms or reach an agreement

So as soon as a club say to the agent " we want to start negotiations with your client" is starting the confering part - whether the agent says "no" straight away or not (which is unlikely, otherwise they are not doing their best for their client)

To be an effective negotiator you have to know all the details about what is available where you are currently, no matter what you are talking about in legal, sporting or general business (or "negotiating" with one's better half on what to do that evening)

Mentioning two - or even twenty two - deals that might not have been negotiated are miniscule compared to the 1000's of deals that are sorted out each year.

Apparently Reus has been linked with United as Dortmund are not looking so hot in the German title race. Sounds legit. Join United in their push for the premier league. Help us surge past Arsenal.... Liverpool... Chelsea... Man City... Everton... Newcastle... Tottenham. Oh god that has made me sad.

One of those gross situations when you buy a duff player for an . inflated price. Then the replacement player turns out to be loads better than the one you bought and now we might have to spend double what Dortmund paid for him to get him too.

It's either horrifically bad buying or scouting or we just don't have a clue.

lol, you're incredible Frank. You're seriously saying that a player or agent refusing to discuss a new contract is the same as opening negotiations?

Are you saying Reus is bad?

He's saying....he's no N'Zogbia

He's certainly not the kagawa you wish he was,

If any non UTD fan wants to chirp up and give their thoughts on Kagawa and whether this fits or not?

'Neat and intelligent player, but too lightweight, doesn't contribute enough and not decisive in the final third'

nows your time.
