West Ham are going to apparently sign Asamoah Gyan (ex-Sunderlad) who ran off to the UAE...so i was curious to see how he was getting on and he has scored 54 goals in 49 games. :p

He must be some sort of God there...plus the wages must be mental.

Guess it belongs here. Fulham have just appointed Alan Curbishley as 'First Team Technical Director'.

Fulham FC said:
Fulham Football Club has confirmed it has appointed Alan Curbishley as First Team Technical Director.

With a wealth of football experience behind him, Alan will work with Head Coach René Meulensteen as the Club embarks on the second half of the season, and the important task of securing our Barclays Premier League status for a 14th consecutive campaign.

Both Curbishley and Meulensteen will report to the Club's CEO Alistair Mackintosh.

I have literally no idea. I guess it's more support for Rene to focus on the proper training aspects? Odd appointment, but seems like Rene's idea. Guess it's more of an assistant manager type role but with a ridiculous job title. He did try with Phelan, but assuming Phelan wants a full time managerial job next?

If we play like we have going forward like we have since Meulensteen has taken over, it's just a matter of time until we get a good run of points going. We've had a hard period of matches recently, but have 4 winnable games now so hopefully a turning point by end of January.

Surely technical director = player technique development which is something that Meulensteen is meant to be a boss at?

Basel winger Mohamed Salah is expected to sign for Liverpool in the January transfer window, according to his former teammate Mohamed Zika.

The Egyptian international was strongly linked with a move to Liverpool last week in the press after Brendan Rodgers was spotted in Germany watching Basel’s 2-0 defeat to Schalke in the Champions League.

The 21-year-old much-hyped midfielder could be set for a £12 million switch to Anfield to bolster Rodgers’ attacking options.

The English-language Egyptian football website King Fut picked up on the television interview with Salah’s former teammate Mohamed Zika telling Kora Kol Yoam that Salah is “99%” certain to join Liverpool.

King Fut translate Zika’s words in response to being asked whether Salah will move to Liverpool as, “Basically, yes. Inshallah (if God wills).

“He makes us and all of Egypt proud. Everyone talks about Mohamed Salah now. And aside from that he’s my friend, so I’m even happier for him.”

Zika and Salah played together between 2010-2012, before Salah’s move to Europe at an Egyptian Premier League club now re-branded as Arab Contractors SC.

Salah has been described as the ‘Egyptian Messi’ and has won lots of praise since moving to Basel in Switzerland last year.

According to Squawka, Salah has scored twice and created seven chances in his six Champions League appearances for the Swiss side this season.

Salah has already won 27 caps for his country, scoring 17 goals in those appearances.

That's old news ;).

This is interesting :

Liverpool are keeping an eye on 25-year-old Croatia and Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic, who has a buy-out clause of £33m but could be available for £7m.

I heard rumours about this the other day, for 7mil that would be a bargain.

Yeah, Manchester - we play Kagawa out of position anyway so wouldn't be a huge loss if he went (unless Rooney leaves at the end of the season!).

From the YT vids I've seen Reus looks better than anyone in our midfield so I think he would surely be welcome.

Would Dortmund even let him go?

Dortmund want 40 million for him. Why we didn't sign him, instead of kagawa for not much more I will never know.

Like I said at the time, I think nationality played a part in it after us getting rid of Park.
