*January Transfer Window 2014/15 Season Rumours/Signings*

Odegaard is a fantastic young player, Ajax is the only serious destination if he is very focused on his footballing development.

Really? I thought they go through the academy and then you just play first team football? Odegaard has been playing first team football for a year and has 3 Norwegian caps. He's past the academy stage.

City in talks with Swansea over Bony. According to Sky Sources.

Poor Bony, he goes to them whilst they have a striker shortage, all their A listers come back and he is benched whilst collecting £200,000 a wekk.

It's ok work if you can get it.

He is also 16. Ajax have a world renown youth policy, youth development and good track record of moving those players in to their first team.

If his attitude is to move to a high status club, develop for a time and start to get senior appearances within a couple of years, Ajax would be a very good move in my opinion.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Bayern, AC Milan, Juventus, Chelsea... et al, are all fantastic clubs with a varying degree of youth setups but I very much doubt that he would get the same chance at senior appearances. That is not to say that he could not spend a few years developing at a club like Ajax and then make another move to a higher status European club when he is 19/20 and move in to the senior side.

You're right. I much preferred Moyes when he talked about trying to play like City and hoping our results got better. How he hoped for some more luck and how he was at a loss to explain what was going wrong. That was some great stuff from a manager who had us playing plain dire football.

Seriously, how can you be such a depressive United fan 100% of the time. When was the last time you enjoyed being a supporter. I can't remember ever seeing your name pop up with anything positive to say about us.

You can never really be sorry or feel that responsible if you keep playing the same formation that makes us look totally awful. And i mean seriously, how many draws in a row? How many really really bad performances?

LVG is scapegoating the players when its clearly the formation which just doesn't suite our players or style at all! Maddness.

Can you remember the last time we played well? And by thati don't mean narrowly not losing but actually looked great?

Also; people forget that he has just been offered a contract by Real ******* Madrid. It is Real Madrid!

Personally think there are better moves for Odegaard, but I do not begrudge any player moving for better money, lifestyle or to a club of such huge historical and current status or renown.

Not totally serious but why not move to Celtic? He knows the manager, has the chance to play CL football next season, will get a chance to play in the Europa this season and has the chance to realistically win 3 cups this season. Celtic aren't exactly a small club either, we just happen to play in a very poor standard of league.

Standard of football in Scotland.

Scottish football is at the beginnings of a renaissance. The standard isn't good enough yet to develop a player of Odegaard's potential, but it's improving, and a lot more skill based than people think. Most Premier teams look to gete the ball down and pass it these days. Far more attractive and exciting the the English Championship anyway.

That said, Odegaard to Celtic is a massive :D

Yes.

League One and the Championship, I would argue, are much better than the Scottish Premier League.

Based on what? Have you even watched a Scottish highlights program, let alone a full match in the past couple of years?

It's only going to get better next season as well, when Hearts and Hibs are promoted.

I would take these Odegaard rumours with a pinch of salt.

News were all voer saying Bayern were sealing the deal the day after his 16th birthday (sometime in December iirc). 2 weeks ago I read that he had signed a contract with Southampton, even though he was a Liverpool fan. Not he seems to be going to Real Madrid.

Dm, if his genuine intentions were to join a club best for his development and chances of first team football then you're never convincing me that Real makes sense.

There are plenty of clubs and coaches with far better reputations of developing players and more importantly giving them a chance too. Real historically just sign star players, particularly attacking players and he's highly unlikely to change that and get a chance instead.

As for the loaning out argument, maybe that could work if he and his father weren't talking about and expecting him to be playing first team football at the highest level within a year. That's not happening at Real and I can't see any top level club taking him on loan.

Casillas, ramos, raul, pavon, etc are examples of real madrid giving youth a chance. He xan play for their C, B teams and enjoy life in the sun. Who knows how he will turn out, could me much Adu about nothing so why not max it out and play for the biggest club in the world?

Yeah that was my thought, very odd signing.

I suppose at least its genuine competition for DDG, rather than Amos or Lidegaard

Its not exactly a long deal - 18 months - just hope DDG isn't put off by someone like that being signed given how little left he has on his contract (rumours are that he isn't, but rumours are rarely believable)
