*January Transfer Window 2014/15 Season Rumours/Signings*

Chelsea Messi rumours everywhere, how can they afford his transfer/wages, aren't gas/oil prices falling fast?

Well no one can really afford him with the buy out clause and wages and still meet FFP. So I imagine if he wanted a move the actual price would have to come down. These buy out clauses are prior to FFP and will have to be lowered.

These buy out clauses are prior to FFP and will have to be lowered.

I guess that's up to Barca whether they want to or not...........

Some articles suggesting (and please note that word), Real Madrid and Manchester Utd are the only clubs even close to affording Messi if he wanted to leave, and however much he disagrees with Barca currently cant see him ever agreeing to go to Madrid

(and no I doubt very much he will leave, so its all moot anyway).

From what I understand there are certain funds that the EPL clubs can use that are "outside" the FFP rules in regards to wages - maybe Ive mis-understood something (probably), but even for the best player in the world (or certainly one of the top two) , that transfer cost is too extreme compared to the state of the rest of the team (even if Utd keep De Gea, which isn't guaranteed as of now), for it to be worth it

I hope the rumours of us making a bid for Hummels are true. United desperately need a world class defensive leader.

Theoretically a bid for Godin from Athletico has gone in (a lot higher than the one reported in the summer as the rumour goes).

Not sure Hummels will go anywhere in the middle of the season, but you never know.

Correct me if im wrong but they only started cause of him liking something on twitter wasn't it? I doubt Messi will move ever

It's more that Barca haven't looked competitive in the CL for several seasons, they've not done particularly well in the league for a couple of seasons and have put in a LOT of poor performances this year. They got pretty much dominated by Real, the first PSG game they also lost, they won but it was close in the home game against PSG. Lost to Celta and Soceidad.

AS yet they haven't looked good against anyone really good this year. They thrashed bottom of the table in the cup and 70k fans didn't show up. There are problems, manager turn over galore and supposedly a lot of infighting.

It's not just down to a following Chelsea on whatever social media **** he did it. In reality Messi is about the money, best paid footballer in the world and he's still dodging tax and doing some dodgy charity games in other parts of the world with many rumours about dodgy payments and missing charity money. However in reality whenever the team appears to not be competitive Messi seems to like rumours of him leaving coming up then he signs a new higher wage contract.

I've said for a long while that Messi appears to get a pretty big say in Barca affairs, which managers get appointed and if they get fired or not. There are rumours that Tata basically said to him on arrival that he knew he could get him fired but lets try and make it work, or something along those lines.

That Barca again spent huge on a striker.... when there is pretty much 6-7 years of history of Messi getting all the chances and strikers being used in a Benzema role to provide for the star rather than for themselves. It's why Benzema is both happy to be there and effective, he's happy playing to get Ronaldo the goals. Barca keep spending huge on bigger name strikers with bigger ego's and they aren't working out... while also ignoring spending properly on the defence. Suarez is doing poorly even with his shooting but he's being asked to play for Neymar and Messi rather than himself. I can't see him staying beyond 2, seasons could have even been one without the transfer ban like Ibra.

This reeks of Messi making his unhappiness felt, wanting a new contract offer and promises of a better manager and the like for next season.... again.

I think Barca have conceded the least goals in La Liga this season which suggests to me the defence is fine.

Tummy, Celtic will never be a force in Europe ever again, we can't compete with the amount of money other clubs have.

Their defence isn't fine against good teams though, they just dominate possession so completely against poor sides that they don't concede. Saying that, I don't rate Real defensively at all; both Ramos and Pepe are hot-headed and make poor decisions constantly. I think Varane is probably their best CB and he rarely plays.

Twitter's full of Lucas to Inter talk tonight. It's been reported these last couple of days that Inter were in for him but that we were unlikely to let him go unless we could replace him. Lucas tweeting "Thanks for everything" at the end of a tweet has set twitter off though.

I don't think Lucas is up to much these days but if he is off then we surely have somebody lined up to replace him because with Can at CB and Allen seemingly dead, we're already light in midfield.

To be fair, I thought he was washed up earlier in the season but he looks a completely different player without Gerrard next to him and our record with him in the team ****** all over our record without him so I'd keep him now.

That record coincides with much easier fixtures too. He's not a difficult upgrade but we have to bring somebody in if he does go.

Delph's been linked recently and a few rags are reporting tonight that we might be interested this month.

I think Delph's a decent if not spectacular player but he's not a dm. He'd be cover/competition for Henderson.

We could just be looking to make the most of our attacking players and not bother having any defensive players anymore
