I told you, don't be surprised to see Sterling and Markovic as wingbacks with Coutinho and Lallana off Sturridge. It would be such a Rodgers thing to do.
yeah, I listened to that episode of TaW too
If Coutinho could finish he could easily get 15 or more a season. His finishing and shooting are woeful.
Totally agree. We can get other wingers if we need to but goalkeepers of De Gea's talent aren't that plentiful. One plays at Chelsea and another at Bayern Munich. To buy either one of those would cost us a lot of money. If given the choice I would easily keep De Gea over getting Bale in some "swap" deal.
Utd have struggled for years to get a decent keeper, no way should be letting a world-class keeper the club has built up from a prospective talent to the mega -star he is today so easily (or while he is still so young).
We could always persuade Villa to buy Cleverley if they want Januzaj on loan.A lot of rumours today Villa are trying to get a loan for Januzzaj (thought there was a rule about there could only be one player loaned from one club to the same other club in the EPL in the same loan period), so with Cleverley already there, not sure this is going to go anywhere
True. I don't think Chelsea would hold us to ransom with Cech as they would with Courtois. I don't think that a 32 year old, whilst still very good, is a suitable replacement for a 24 year old. We need to keep De Gea, or if he does leave, make sure we get a heck of a lot of dosh, preferably up front. If we were to let De Gea go I think the best replacement would be Cech. I really wouldn't like to see him leave though.
Indeed. De Gea has saved us many games and points of late. Get him tied down to a long term contract LVG!!The only thing we need to get sorted before the summer in my view is another defender or two and to get DDG tied down into a long term contract. I'm not quite sure why we haven't done so before now other than club policy. He has been brilliant for a few seasons now.
Hypothetically would De Gea win you enough more points to justify paying double on him over Lloris for example?
Also the clubs that could afford to pay massive money tend to spend big on glamour signings - usually attackers. I always remember when Real signed Alonso from us - the management and director of football all wanted him but Perez needed persuading into paying £30-35m on a holding midfielder.
