January Transfer Window 2017/18

Was he like that at real Madrid?

He was exactly the same at Real Madrid, during the window I think before Arsenal were even linked with him I said all the same things I'm saying now, nothing has changed in the slightest. Back then I also mentioned about the weaknesses we'd see. If we played him centrally it probably means Podolski is out and we might well play Cazorla on the wing where he's dire. He could replace Walcott where despite him not being great on the wing he'd still be a massive upgrade on Walcott but that I didn't see that happening and I said ultimately if we played him instead of Cazorla it wouldn't make much difference. I also said he wasn't the player with the winning mentality and drive that we needed.

Took me a long while to find the posts actually, I basically said he works at Real because they have a powerful very hard working forward in Benzema and crazy pace/quality on the wings so their running makes the space and he can just stand around and ping it to them. At Arsenal with Giroud, Caz, Walcott, with entirely different types of player we need a more dynamic driving force in the AMC/no.10 role.

I also said that ultimately what we should do is get a great DM and push WIlshere forward, at the time he spent the season playing DM and getting seven shades of **** kicked out of him every game and that buying Ozil means Wilshere's development gets destroyed by being played in the wrong position, Ozil being played where WIlshere should be developed and that Ozil wouldn't take us forwards where a top DM and WIlshere in the no.10 role would.

I also got mercilessly mocked for saying Wenger was the reason we wouldn't go forwards, not the squad itself and that Ozil wouldn't be some difference maker and that at 42mil breaking the record for the wrong player was a very bad move.

AS at the time, what we need is a DM< we've needed a top quality DM since freaking Gilberto left, that we haven't bought an experienced DM is straight up embarrassing. Buy a straight up defensive midfielder, build with Wilshere in ahead of a DM or maybe DM + CM. He can move, he can drive, he can pass and if we let him he can score goals. We also need genuine wingers/wide players, pace and quality. Will see what Mihki can do but not convinced he can really play wide rather than no.10/free role.

Welbeck and most of the defence need to be moved on across the next 1-2 windows. Desperately need a new keeper in summer, Ospina isn't anywhere near good enough and Cech needs to go.

If that is true then I can’t see why Ozil would want to go to Utd, again if he does go like Sanchez...it’s all about the money money money;):p

Any why would Aubemayang go to Arsenal? Trophies? The fans? The atmosphere at the Emerates? Hes probably just always dreamed of never winning anything of note

Hope the Giroud to Chelsea thing isn't true.

Would hurt to see him in blue more than it hurts to see Sanchez in a United shirt.

I don’t know fez, I could say the same about Sanchez;).
But he wants out of Dortmund, like Sanchez wanted out of Arsenal. At the moment we are the only team that are interested in him. So I guess he has no choice to come to Arsenal if he really wants out.

I’m not that bothered if he comes or not, he seems to be another disruptive influence. So no doubt in a couple of yrs he will want out of Arsenal as well. I guess his dream of moving to Real won’t be coming true anytime soon.

Money I guess.salaries are capped in Germany
Not sure if it’s about money as he will be on about £150k a week minimum.

I just think he really wants out because Dortmund promised to sell him to Real and they went back on their promise. Not sure how true that is but I read something about him being annoyed that Dortmund basically ****** him over.

Lol from Paddy Power....

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is not with the Dortmund squad at the court hearing today, as he is ill.

He is suspected to be suffering from the rare, but serious medical condition of wanting to play for Arsenal.

Klopp admitted can is just running down the contract, well that was obvious to all. Regardless of dijk and keita, klopp has not handled transfers over all well since joining us imo, left us short most of time, yet again we have nothing from the bench that's good enough.

Salah, Mane etc are quality, but clearly he wants rid of sturridge, so we been using solanke who isn't ready, Ings I can't judge due to unlucky injuries.

Midfield needs a creator now, even if we still had countinho it was still something we needed, instead we need two now.

I wouldnt hold out too much hope of anyone coming in, Klopp said in a recent interview that "The solution is not out there in the transfer market". I do like Klopp and I understand that he is very strong on motivating players by using a lot of loyalty and backing but I really do wish that he would be a little more realistic and admit when someone simply isnt good enough and needs replacing. I like Can overall, I seriously do believe that in years to come he will become a key figure in the Germany midfield but I do think he would be better served in a slower league where he gets a little more time on the ball and isnt need to rush it about. Italy would be a good fit for him and I think will see him flourish.

Klopps record in the transfer market is unreal, just look at whos come in under him. Arguably the only real flop is Karius and even then he was peanuts. We need someone this window and I still believe its happening. Sturridge going to West Brom makes us one injury away from playing Danny Ings in the Champions League...that is simply not acceptable for a club of our size.

So reports that Aubamayang is all but done.

Dortmund just need to find a replacement. Rumours they will try for a loan of Batshuayi.

If you were Chelsea you would be thinking... hang on if we loan then Batshuayi, Arsenal will get Aubamayang.

So the answer would be an obvious no to any loan deal.

Arsenal's best bet is just to loan/sell Dortmund Giroud.

With £100m spent in the last year on the strikeforce of Aubameyang and Lacazette, Arsenal cant have any excuses

We still have a completely dysfunctional midfield though, adding Aubameyang to our forward line doesn't fix that.

I know a lot of fingers are pointed at our defence, but I think its the lack of proper protection infront of them that is causing the problem.

I still welcome the arrival of another top class striker, hopefully we'll score a lot goals, I don't think we'll pick up any extra trophies because of it though!

To me this window is transfer failure by klopp and fsg again imo. We have weakened now I don't mind Ings playing he hasn't had a fair chance due to injuries.

Sturridge would still be useful however he has been fit now for few week so I suspect klopp is just done with him and doesn't rate him

Does the deal hang on Dortmund finding a replacement? I don't think it does.

So the PEA deal is agreed, but still not actually completed.

Only Arsenal could make such a seemingly straightforward transfer drag out so long
