January Transfer Window 2017/18

They were mentioned in the Pogba deal multiple times. Pretty sure they were mentioned with Lukaku as well.

Now check out this article of De Bruyne's new contract. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...city-kevin-de-bruyne-signs-new-five-year-deal

Where does it mention his wage? Or his agent's fee? Where is it all averaged out over the length of the contract? Where is that information for the Laporte signing?

Weird it's not mentioned anywhere.

The media only does it with United because they know everyone wants to read and talk about us.
I'm not going to trawl through articles however I've read several stories on KdB that quote his reported wage and I cannot recall any big headlines on the total cost of Pogba or Lukaku's transfer. You're sounding a bit paranoid Shami.

Again, people are reporting the Sanchez figures because they're off the chart.

Obviously there is some work to be done and Pep is clearly a good manager but their spending under his has been gross. If they sign Mahrez for 60 mil it takes them over the 500mil mark, how is that not falling foul of some bloody rules somewhere?
City and psg dont care about rules. They just do as they want. uefa are to weak to do anything about it and city aren't bothered about a fine

Latest in the Auba-Giroud merry go round.

Seems like Chelsea playing silly buggers with us...loan him but don’t sell him is what I’d say.

Auba at our training ground so it’s looking more and more likely it’s going to happen.

Batshuayi is off to Dortmund by the looks of it.

If we miss out for that silly reason!:(

Its absolutely obscene. He took a brilliant squad spent 448 million and people are wondering why they play good football..

And they only replaced Man United in September as the most expensive squad assembled, yet United didn't play good football and neither has any Jose team. So it's clearly not only money as to why they play great football.

Well said ive been saying that for ages buy all the players everybody else wants its so easy

People used to level that same cack at United.

Because clearly City don't pay wages and players come purely to play for Pep.

Or you have to pay more to get players to go to play with Jose.

City shouldn't be fined anyway, FFP is an old boys network trying to maintain the status quo. Which is why some United fans are all of a sudden bleating about finances of other clubs using money to muscle into the game. If Apple decided to buy Stoke and plow in 40 billion, they should be able to if they aren't going to leave the club in huge debt and can fund it. If you want fair play give every team a 200m budget for the season max and then see how they all do.

Part of the reason they do this is to stop the markets becoming ridiculous and party to avoid teams going bust if their sugar daddy suddenly decides he wants out. What do you think would happen to PSG or City if their owners lost interest tomorrow and stopped bankrolling them?

United have been one of the biggest clubs in the world for 20 years and their revenue is huge. Lets not compare City and their manufactured revenue with United as its a ridiculous comparison. What City and Pep are doing is obscene.

I say this as a Liverpool fan by the way.

Exactly

What’s the right way to do it? Would be interested in hearing how a smaller club can grow to the top of Europe without external funding

The only issue with city is where the money comes from but plenty of the ‘naturally self sufficient’ clubs take money from more than questionable sources

City wouldn't be able to spend quite as freely but would be fine and PSG would be forced to sell a load of players to get costs under control and while they wouldn't be a force in Europe, they'd still be one of if not the biggest side in France.

This idea that FFP is to stop clubs going bust is complete nonsense. Look back to when UEFA first started talking about financial controls, they were concerned with the amount of debt clubs like Utd were being put into. As with every decision made by UEFA, it's always a compromise with the major clubs because there's always the threat of a breakaway league and ultimately the established top clubs in Europe didn't give a **** about debt, they wanted controls put on Chelsea, City and PSG to protect themselves. FFP has 1 purpose, to make it cheaper for the biggest sides to remain at the top table.

I can never get my head around this view. Why does it matter to you, me or any football supporter whether a club is spending their owners money or whether the money is coming as a result of having an official haemorrhoid cream partner?

I always though FFP was more about Platini not wanting the domination of the PL clubs continuing in Europe (when it was proposed), it seemed to somehow fade into the background when the power shifted back again to the continent.

No they're not, they are doing it because thats what happens with all our marquee players. When we bought Lukaku there were plenty of articles quoting his price as £96m odd due to "extras".

No-one has a clue what Sanchez is on or his wages wouldn't have gone from £300k/week up to over £600k/week in a few days.

Mangala... absolute giraffe of a defender.

Is he going to be our Sakho.

A lot of center backs are found out when they are the better clubs as they have more of the ball to feet, the likes of Sakho, Mangala, Lovren, Evans etc will look good at clubs that are used to the standard, back to the wall defending. Heading, hoofing, etc, he will do well for you.

Good point that Andy, never really thought about it like that.

With Bats heading to Dortmund, that surely has to be the last hurdle before Arsenal can officially announce PEA.

Although after last night's shambles he may be having second thoughts...

Yea was thinking that. Still think he'll sign but Arsenal need to be more concerned about the result than the football.

Wrong tactics from Wenger.

Plus we really need to sort out our defending and DM position. Elneny is average and merely a squad player. Not good enough for a club with aspirations of challenging at the top.
