January Transfer Window 2017/18

"Everton confident of signing Eliaquim Mangala from Manchester City on Deadline Day" - SkySports

Never seen the word 'confident' in the same sentence as 'Mangala' before. :P

Not sure why City don't just play Bernardo Silva instead of signing Mahrez? For all of Pep's moral grandstanding he's just spent £57m on a defender and possibly £60m~ on Mahrez...

I know we've spent a lot of money too and badly but they are starting to take it to a new level now (which is fair enough, but don't plead poverty :p).

Leicester are holding out for £90m+ based on what Coutinho went for, I can't see anyone paying close to that, Mahrez isn't that good.

No they're not, they are doing it because thats what happens with all our marquee players. When we bought Lukaku there were plenty of articles quoting his price as £96m odd due to "extras".

No-one has a clue what Sanchez is on or his wages wouldn't have gone from £300k/week up to over £600k/week in a few days.
Yes they are.

The vast majority of stories were reporting either the up front fee of £75m or the fee with add-ons of £90m which is absolutely no different from any other transfer. And I agree that the press won't know for certain what Sanchez is earning but they will be being briefed figures from various parties and the reason why we've got these £150-180m headlines is because the figures are massive.

Wow, wasn't expecting confirmation of that until later. Good signing but ultimately it's not what Arsenal need (as a priority), should be good to watch though.

I think Wenger is concerned there aren't enough match winners in the squad.

We only had one which was Sanchez.

We do need to buy defensive players tho. A world class DM would be nice to replace Elneny in the starting line-up.

Elneny is OK, but not much better than Coquelin. Neither good enough for a top tier team.

So Aubameyang has finally signed for us, after last nights performance not sure if he made the right move.

But hopefully he can bag some goals for us, seeing as nowadays we rely on our defenders to score goals for us:p.

At least that saga is finished.

Arsenal don't need a world class striker?, so we fine with average like Welbeck and Giroud, ok Lacca is good but he needs more time I think.

I do think we need a DM more so, but Im not complaining about this signing.

Yes, in fairness Lacazette has been patchy, so I do think it's a very good signing, but whatever his goal return, defensively and mentally the team looks very weak.

As above, yes I suppose you do.

For sure, I mean Xhaka is completely clueless, I really don't know why Wenger keeps playing him, I guess he needs to justify the £35m he spent on him. defensive areas are number 1 priority now, I think this will be strengthened in the Summer.

It will be absolutely epic to see the meltdown if Aubameyang doesn’t score loads of goals for us lol.

German league and premier league are completely different. I just hope he hits the ground running and we play to his strengths. At least Mikhi will be happy reuniting with his old team mate from Dortmund.

As I said in the match thread last night, I've noticed him strolling around just before Arsenal concede a goal a few times, he's complete garbage.

I assume Wenger will try and fit both Auba and Lacazette into the team, with Ozil feeding them both. Good potential there, but the rest of the team is patchy. Cech has lost it now too.
