Jordan Peterson thread

David Fuller has published an interesting article on JBP:

Have to say that I agree with a lot of that. He makes some good points.

Yeah he makes some good points. From reading that I do wonder if Fuller is religious. He seemed drawn to JBP in part because of his talks on religion. That is what left me disinterested in JBP tbh, he always seemed to come back to it and I just can't take anyone who bangs on about religion seriously. When he leaves that out he can be quite interesting. Also I've never bought into 'father hunger'. I'm a 52 year old man and I don't feel emasculated in any way by society. That is the problem with conservatives, they don't want change, too many of them would be happy if society moved back to to the patriarchy that it was 70+ years ago. Man at the head of the family, the woman at home raising the children, cooking his dinner for when he gets home. Sorry but society evolves (thank ****) and it isn't the 1950s anymore.

I used to despise him, now I'm just indifferent. Feel that way about most opinion careerists now to be quite honest. There's not much point expending any large degree of thought on what they have to say or what people have to say about them. Nothing ever changes but the shoes.

I just love that it's the usual crowd that hate him. It makes me like him even more.

Unless I've missed it, I'm just waiting on someone calling him a drug addict for my JP bingo card.
Well he was by his own words. People can only assume he no longer is ... but as we all know drug addiction is no easy fix.

By usual crowd do you include fellow supporters in that ? Or just people u have always disagreed with?
He went deep down a rabbit hole and now he just talks waffle. His recent videos are embarrassing.

Shame really as he did use to have some useful takes on many issues.

Yeah I think he got sucked into some of the nonsense, maybe he was looking at what these people were talking about and got sucked in himself. Won't be the first or last intelligent person to fall for it.

Typical alt right [sorry!] rubbishy Youtube account.

These people love to say "ah but why?" "look at this... and ask yourself some questions!" and "what is this, do you believe it?" etc etc etc...

No evidence, no hard data. No research, no scholarship. Just questions that are worded attractively.

That was 13 tweets of absolutely vacuous bilge. Also "overwhelmingly" doesn't have a "b" in it.

Seems like there are a lot of very insecure men out there who also want to have bibles bashed on their heads. Maybe if he left the religious nonsense at the door he's be a little more interesting, though tbh I just don't get why all these men are feeling so insecure

That's clearly not true, no evidence, no hard data, no research? He's published plenty of academic papers. No scholarship? He was a professor at Harvard and Toronto.

There are plenty of things to criticise him over but at least make it credible, he's not just some random YouTuber with no qualifications - also what makes him alt right?

It seems like you're just making things up.

I still haven't watched him, nor listened to even one word he may have to offer, but just because a person has a faith in some religion, and others do not, it certainly need not make every other utterance from them ridiculous.

Thinking back many of the brightest, best educated and best people to be in the company of that I have known or know, also had or have strong religious beliefs. One of the best scientists I know is also a devout member of a religious group strongly associated with the Amish (Mennonites). I am pretty much the least religious person one might ever meet, but I don't share this tendency to condemnation and mockery of those that do have a powerful belief.

It's something that's evolved very recently, almost as if the modern education system has covertly been turning some younger people aggressively anti religion.

Its not that he is religious, its that he can't leave it at the door. When religion becomes a major part of your argument, you've already lost me. The US right love it though and especially the "Proud Boys" movement and their patriarchal nonsense. Back when men were men and women were subservient  and need to use violence and intimidation to prove their "manhood". Pathetic.
