are you deliberately miss representing me? yes we had our environmentally unsustainable industrial revolution to get where we are................ but other countries cant if the planet is to survive, so rather than that happen i would rather some of my tax went to helping other contries modernise in a cleaner more sustainable way. doesnt seem that hard to understand.

that said i also agree with the political hot potato that some countries (not us) need to get their population growth under control. no one (even us) should be having enough children to field a full 5 a side football team imo...... but i am not sure how you get that one into law, esp in the countries which really desperately need it.

What’s that got to do with stopping licensing and drilling for new oil? Which is what they are campaigning for. They aren’t campaigning for an end to all oil…

The worlds population is due to hit 8 billion this week. In the 1950's it was 2.5 billion. The growth in population has been both explosive and unsustainable over just 70 years and is a huge factor in pollution and species decimation of the planet. The planet needs an effective plague or WW3 unfortunately, because humanity won't regulate itself.

I prefer if the money went to enforce one-child policy. Reduce the population count.

No, companies would have to pay for it, we should not use our tax money.

It is down to companies, not governments. Impose a large tax on companies, the more environmentally friendly they are the less tax.

The tax money should be used solely for the UK. India and Pakistan should stop this space and the nuclear arms race and focus on the environment.

Surely this is circular. If as you say there probably is man made climate change, then it is more likely there will be mass migration from countries that are least able to combat climate change if they happen to live in places that are so dry they have huge wild fires that burn vast tracts of land or they happen to have large parts of the country that flood regularly.

I dont disagree with that from an academic view, but having lived through covid - a pretty tame disease in the grand scheme of things - and seeing what is going on in the Ukraine right now i cant wish either of those things on anyone even if it would solve our issues.

Mr Smith in the matrix had a point about humanity.......

How do you run an economy with no new oil development and production.
New production is about become more efficient with what you have.

Give the people 5 years and they will be at the opposite end of the argument.

Population control is the only way to solve these issues. Mr middle management in his electric EV will do little to no difference in the grand scheme of things. We are pushing this agenda of EV's like it is a golden bullet. Whilst it does help it is a drop in the ocean compared to the 2.5 billion population increase over the past 30 years. The problem is like I have said before Western society is a pyramid scheme and needs population growth to sustain that. It will collapse if not. This whole Freedom of movement rubbish was nothing but a ploy for the European powerhouses to increase their young working population by ravaging the smaller less developed nations of the EU so good luck with any change there!

For me at least this is why I laugh at these protestors. They are fighting for something that is pointless. If only they knew the bigger picture.

i think (but i am not an expert) that we are in a good place to make the uk sustainable....... and hopefully with tame measures such as wind, solar and electric cars. I dont think most of Europe needs population control, i dont have time to look the stats up but in general isnt the population in what you would consider to be the developed coutries population pretty stable, or even falling slightly/

other countries not so much...................... they have a far bigger problem and one which may need out side countries to step in at some point.... but i do think we need to get our own house in order , even if it is a drop in the bucket before we can start forcibly preaching too much
 
Why close the whole road when they’re on a gantry? Leave them up there, don’t give them publicity and carry on. We’re so weak as a country. It’s terrorism, nothing less. They just make me want to use more oil :p

Terrorism really? Chucking petrol bombs at tents is Terrorism, not this (regardless of where we stand on the issue).
