"Just stop oil"

The only way they will succeed is to create their own political entity, get people on their side, and get to a position where they can enforce change.

Without people behind them they are just antagonising people and winding people up so much they don't care what the message is.

My brother just got in from work. Put him hours behind. Took him 1hr40 to get from Crayford to Stone. Usually takes less than 10 mins.

Codt him money, about £350, as he couldn’t do his last job.

let’s hope he gets in touch with the decision makers to let them know and ask them to engage with this protest group. His anger should be at the government who accept there’s a problem but is working against fixing it.

Sod that, life without oil is currently not viable. Let's come up with an alternative that won't tank the economy/society first.

These Muppets would be first to cry when the grid either guess down or theyv can't afford access to it due to not having a job due to either it no longer being viable or they can't get there due to no transport.

Let's then think about the millions starving around the world due to a collapse in the fertiliser market and food rotting due expensive or lack of transport

Just Stop Oil said in a statement: "The Just Stop Oil coalition is demanding an end to the government's genocidal policy of expanding UK oil and gas production and is calling on all those outraged at the prospect of climate collapse and suffering from the cost-of-living crisis to stand with us.
"Ordinary people can no longer afford oil and gas, it's time to just stop oil."
Without continued production it runs out there is no current viable alternative. the economic damage with exacerbate the cost of living crisis tenfold.

Pretty simple stuff.

Even there slogan is infantile

Of course the cringy ‘crying’ chick lives near me. She’ll live in a massive house with hugely rich parents. Hope she does some jail time, they’ll soon give her something to cry about.

the point is that if we reduced resilience on oil, there’d be greater investment and research into alternatives and discover these alternatives. We should be taxing them more (windfall tax) and channelling money away from O&G to research to alternatives and make us world leaders in these areas.

Did you just gender assign me? :p

I merely mean that if they are sat in front of me, I will push them out of the way with my car, in much the same way that I've seen some other people doing. I'm not saying that I will run at them with an AK-47 and shoot them , their families and their children Rambo style

I'm fairly sure someone got charged with dangerous driving and was banned for doing that.

I live just off Jct 26 and its been mayhem for the last few days. There have been police at Jct 25 waiting just in case any protesters turn up there, they've hit that junction before.

Madness, she got into more trouble than the stop oil morons.

There were loads of police at 22 this morning including individuals stood at footpath entry points to gantries. Didn’t seem to do much good, there just aren’t enough police.

this problem has been on the horizon for years (not specifically this).
but society only works because of a certain level of fear/respect for the police and the justice system.
as soon as you are not concerned about consequences, even with a fully supported police force with teeth would never be enough to stop public dissention .. and we are far from a fully supported police force and those we do have seem to police inconsistently.

I think too many people have zero respect for the police or trust in the justice system

At least I will have still managed to have my Christmas holiday in Canada, they can charge me when I return in the new year :)

They already pay 65% tax.
