"Just stop oil"

We still have a pillory on Pillory street in Nantwich however I suspect it is a softwood model so it needs upgrading to one a bit tougher.

Be funny if they get in the way of a few rugby players doing the marathon for charity and get a good kicking.
I'm sure they only do stuff when they know the police are there to protect them.

Man, I dont think I'd want to be a relative of yours. I get that someone should never automatically think they are always being told the truth by a family member but simply assuming that a family member is lying to you is just as bad.

Why would I question her? I'm not Starsky and Hutch. Ultimately it makes no difference to my life if what she said is true or not but I'm certainly a more trusting person than to interrogate my niece as to whether she is lying or not. My relationship with my family members outweighs accusing a family member of being a liar.

Even if I was so inclined, what proof that she offered would constitute concrete proof for you? I mean some people are so firm in their own belief that no amount of proof is enough to dissuade them and they always have a reason to dismiss all proof to the contrary (Flat Earthers are a prime example of that sort of person)

A link to a website or company making the offer, and shred off evidence of the conversation happening, text messages, emails.

I wonder what other completely ridiculous things you have been told that you have just blind believed.

Generally, I think prison ought to be primarily for violent offenses but with these people, it's not someone making a mistake, it's some very self-righteous people who are in complete denial that what they did was even wrong... so community service, fines etc.. aren't necessarily going to work well and as they caused traffic chaos/wasted time for over half a million people for a couple of days thanks to their little stunt then it doesn't seem all that unfair that they now have their time wasted with a couple of years in jail.

Also prevents them from taking part in further disruption an might make others think twice about it too.

Gah I know, maybe they could get in touch with her and see if she wants a fight to settle it?

I doubt anyone who is enraged by it would have the stones to ever turn up. I've made the offer to people who have said they have an issue with me and never have I received an invite. Lots of keyboard warriors and bedroom incels raging with no action.

Good lord, you are a seriously odd person and so peculiarly passive aggressive. Very very odd. It was a verbal conversation so theres no texts or emails, I could ask her if the woman who talked to her gave her a company name or website or something.

So bizarre though that you immediately jump to things being completely ridiculous and me being someone who blind believes things. Such an odd person.

EDIT : Got curious to know if I was misjudging you or not, so looked through your post history, seems to be a half and half sort of thing. Some of the posts were actually very good, particularly ones in relation to the loss of someone close. Other posts were just strangely aggressive, its actually like the posts are by 2 different people such is the difference. Certainly does seem that you're not 100% odd though. One thing thats very clear though is that if you and I were introduced to each other I dont think we'd get along and would probably be very happy to see the back of each other at the end of the night. I very highly doubt that I am the sort of person you'd find friend qualities in and vice versa, so its just as well that is very unlikely to ever happen :)

Offering to fight people who you disagree with on the internet? Little wonder people laugh at you.

And yet in 100 years time these people will be the heroes and we will be the ignorant people who ignored them and let climate change happen.
I don't deny their cause and indeed I do what I can to reduce my carbon footprint in many areas.
I am far from perfect and probably don't do enough.... I went abroad on holiday with the family for instance.
I also drive a.diesel car bought in ignorance..... there is a strong argument that now the car is built it is better to use it even though its a diesel rather than to waste it's carbon debt and replace it for its natural life.
however that being said. me owning said diesel (and going on a plane) does completely remove any moral higher ground for judging others and would make me a raging hypocrite for doing the shinanegans these eco terrorists are doing. Doesnt stop some of them however.
also they are attacking the wrong people.
the people's lives they should disrupt if they want to disrupt anything are the people incharge of making the rules. the politicians and what not not the average person just trying desperately to make ends meet or get to hospital or see family members in this horrible crisis we all face.

some of the own goals they have scored are also boggling. disrupting a train full of workers for Christ's sakes......people using public transport is what they should be championing not disrupting.

late last year my mate had his car tyres deflated twice and a flier put in his window about driving an SUV style vehicle and about how no one needs such large vehicles, he should have a smaller more sustainable car... the thing is..... he has 3 kids and a caravan and trailer tent his car is a necessity not a luxury..... and again going on holiday towing a caravan sounds more sustainable to me than flying abroad.

he looked into their manifesto..... and it seems even EVs are not immune because of tyre pollution. this isn't a desire to make people try to be cleaner. it's jealousy in many cases.

It doesn't matter what they are doing, history will show they cared enough to try, whereas the average person (and politician) are just not changing enough to make any difference.

Sounds all nice until you realise oil and gas are essential for manufacturering. So either we have to import the oil and gas from elsewhere or make the stuff in another country and import it,which also means more ships and aircraft. It also means we need to print more money to finance these imports.

There not wrong though, an estate car has the same amount or more interior space in a smaller foot print and gets a lot better efficiency and can be equally as competent at towing a caravan.

The rise of the SUV has been an utter tragedy for fleet emissions.

I like how the BBC article states "Both appeared shocked when the sentences were read out".

By that, you can only assume they didn't think their punishment was going to be this severe. Hopefully this sends a message to others that they can't disrupt the lives of others and only get a slap on the wrist.

I can't argue that...... however that doesn't explain them going after electric SUVs (the Kia E-Niro is one of the most efficient cars you can buy and yet not only is that not a built from the ground up to be an EV so has compromises, it is an SUV as well, indeed i dunno how Kia do it,.some form of sorcery perhaps..

the Tesla Y equally is incredible but both of these are in scope for these guys. (I just checked I deleted the picture of the bumpf posted on my mates car).
but either way.... you don't get to deflate people's tyres just because you disagree with their car FGS. this same guy his previous wife had CF. she regularly had to go to hospital when things went bad. Now,.the tyre thing happened after she had passed... but could you imagine if they had had to go to hospital , and had gone out to their car to find some ****** had deflated their tyres?
sooner or later someone will catch one of them doing it and give them a slap... and will end up in more trouble that these idiots. (or they will stop a doctor getting to a patient or someone getting to hospital)

of course it matters what they are doing otherwise why not just do a culling and get rid of people they deem unclean?. disrupting public rail for instance is a huge owngoal... and vandalism is wrong.

and besides as shown in the news recently... they care enough to cause disruption but not enough to not drive a diesel, go on holiday themselves, or not throw half full tubes of super glue into the drains.
if they really want to show they care they need to get rid of the people just doing it to cause disruption but clearly do not really care about the cause it undermines what point they may have
