Would credit card guarentee not cover it if it didn't though?
from what ive read, mixed sucess.

as you arn't actually buying goods or services. you are effectively sponsoring a company and they can reward you with a gift.
i have and will back stuff at more than £30, and if you pay attention imo you can be very good at guarding yourself.

I don't like projects;
that massively beat their reward goal.
have a very small reward goal compared to what they want to achieve
lack decent near finished prototypes and preferably have molds, and supply chain in place.
that have had projects on indigogo
that are established companies

also need to follow updates and comments section and make sure theirs plenty of interaction and answers
see what you can find out about the people behind it.

and if any off those are wrong or you just have a gut feeling cancel before the end date. Of course this doesn't remove all risk, but imo it limits it massively.

so far only two bad projects.
one gave a full refund Arkyd
the other is vago and it looks like that's dead and it is since then i've added more scrutiny. Thankfully its only like <£25

I managed to use a credit card chargeback against one project that collapsed because the creator had lied about their progress before offering a partial refund months later. They showed prototypes, software, supply chain, no massive goal and quite a specialist market so it would have passed the Glaucus test. In the end they used the funds to re-develop the entire project, go completely overboard with revisions, fall out with their software dev, ran out of cash to finish the project so offered partial refunds for no product, then tried to sell on their IP to a competitor.

What a waste of money, there is absolutely no way they are going to make it look decent, whilst accounting for every phone variation. plus the touch is going to be a mess.

also this:
"Faster than Wi-Fi. Superscreen's patent pending technology transfers data between your phone at industry leading speeds as far as 100 feet away regardless of obstructions." what a load of *****.

Yeah, when you watch their promo video you can see the lag between the phone and the tablet device. I can't ever see them delivering something on this that is even mildly close to what they are promising.

just curious - why not?
literally everything about it.
absolutely tiny initial goal
massively over funded.
ridiculousness small price of unit, i cant see how its possible making a tablet (remember this is a full tablet) for so small price
insane reduction compared to rrp.
insane stretch goals. larger batteries that either cost a lot more or their tablet was surprisinglly empty, and a case that although is cheap and easy, it still adds cost to every single device that is already sold at a stupid cheap price.
software wonder claims, with no evidence.
cant see anything about where they are in development, or manufacturing.
and about 20 other reasons.

literally everything about it.
absolutely tiny initial goal - Agree - Sounds like they are small scale with limited staff resources
massively over funded. - Agree - Can they expand to cover the KS demand and manage the fallout if there are faults with the product? There are 11,000 units already pre-ordered from 8,000 customers, that's a lot of people to deal with for a small company only expecting 50k.
ridiculousness small price of unit, i cant see how its possible making a tablet (remember this is a full tablet) for so small price - Disagree - I use a £40 8" Windows 10 tablet bought online from a well known UK retail store, so the price is fine if they don't have to go through supply chain.
software wonder claims, with no evidence. - On the fence - Yes they have to protect their IP, they show it working for Android and have admitted they are still working on the iOS version, so I wouldn't back it just yet if I was an iPhone user.
and about 20 other reasons.

that tablet does not have a 2k display with a 15hr battery to power that 2k display. it doesnt have usb-c etc etc etc the specs aren't even in the same league as your tablet It also doesn't have a custom piece of software that works over multiple devices etc.

This looks quite good. Wonder if its too good to be true though for $99

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/brentmorgan/superscreen/

I originally backed this and then cancelled my pledge after a few hours. There is literally no way the final product is going to be close to what they are promising. Even if they get that far.

Also the fact he waited till her had over $1m in funding before admitting that the iOS execution would likely be limited in comparison to Android is sketchy as hell.

*edit* Another thing that made me nervous about the whole thing is they seem to be spending a ton of money on ads on Facebook. It's all over my feed.

I keep following Superscreen as it seems to be a car crash waiting to happen. They started off with 1,000 early bird pledges available and have kept on extending it.

At one point they were going to stop extending at 7,500. Since then they have extended it to 8,000 and now 9,000.

its going to be an epic car crash, i would bet on it not even remotely delivering.

trouble is fr to many people use kickstarter without appreciating what it actually is, and like these large well advertised projects, so many new people pledging.
