this is very bad news, its threads like this that keep me away from the GD area of this forum, very tragic indeed.
but as mentioned above, how can anyone be silly enough to use a lawnmower like that when little kids are around playing. the child has paid the ultimate price because of someone elses stupidity.
Whilst it is careless, people slip up sometimes? People make mistakes, day in, day out. A family friend "stupidly" drove back one of my most cherished friends to kent, a 4 hour drive, he was tired, he fell asleep at the wheel. My dearest friend died, the driver who is also a friend, did not. Do i blame him? No, because he'll feel enough guilt than anyone should have to bear. He took away the life of a gift to the world, with a wife and two children.
The blame game is an easy one to play, unless you've been in a situation like the ops/ops brother, me and many others. Theres a time to be sympathetic and a time to be judgemental, this situation deserves nothing but sympathy and support. Accidents happen, and will continue to happen, and whilst they can be prevented, they are often not. Be thankful that his daughter had a miraculous escape and wasnt taken from this world, its amazing what people can do in the face of adversity.
To kvfb97, your journey will be arduous, your brother will need you more than ever, be there for him, even when he doesnt ask for it. Most importantly, ease his guilt by making his daughter smile. She has tough times ahead, but with family support, anything can be overcome. I wish all the best to you, your brother and the rest of your family.
Take care.
