Lawnmower accident

Actually we do, and that's why nobody in my family is missing their legs.

I'm not sure how people are able to defend the person (idiot) who caused the problem.

O god, i can tell you this now i hope you hit someone doing 40 in 30 are something, i will **** myself laughing at you.

Just remember if that did happen you should have been doing the right thing and going at 30 or even less.

Mistakes happen end of story.

Nice assumptions there mate.

Mistakes happen end of story.

Like I said, a mistake that should have easily been avoided.

Cant believe some of you didn't believe him.
This is General Discussion, 90% of threads in this forum are either junk or jokes/wind-ups so it's perfectly acceptable for the first reaction to have been "is this for real or shens?"

Frankly he should've expected such a response posting it here.

Can't believe the replies some of you knobs have posted that are suggesting this guy was making this story up. Who sits at an internet forum and decides to make up a thread about their niece getting their legs cut off on a lawnmower? Big deal if he posted about another unfortunate story xx hours before this one about being dumped or whatever (I didn't even read that thread), it's as if everyone has an allocated quota of saddening threads per day and you're lying if more than one bad thing happens to you before the day ends.

Just on topic again, I was talking to one of my friends yesterday who is from near Armagh direction, he was talking to an ambulance driver at the weekend who was called out to a house where a young girl had her legs mauled by a lawnmower. Probably a completely separate incident though

Erm, this is GD. I'm sure I've seen much worse that turned out to be BS.

You'd be surprised at how often people post sob stories on the internet, only for someone to discover that it is a load of crap. It doesn't seem to be the case in this instance though.

People don't like others playing games with their emotions so it's only natural that some will doubt such stories. This was a horiffic story and will bring out all sorts of emotions in different people. The people who expressed disbelief are not the "knobs". The "knobs" are those who felt the need to continuously reiterate the 'stupidity' of the father etc.

Ok fair enough you are right, but I don't see made-up stories of this nature popping up every day, that's all.

Much worse has been posted on forums which has later turned out to be false. If you believe very serious story you read online, you should really shouldn't.

Pretty much everyone who posted doubts also said "I'm really sorry for you if this is true". Which is fully acceptable. in my view.

There where a number of things I found a little odd about the OP. One being the relatively strange nature of the accident (I've not heard of it happening before), the OP did have that other girl related thread (which again the timing seemed off with) and I've never heard of anyone using an industrial moer for a private property. Add that together and realise on the web things aren't what they seem and I think options to reserve judgement where valid.

I personally did check local news services for the region the day after and saw no mention of it (which I thought and to some extend still think) is quite strange (my local paper would certainly cover it if they heard news of it). Although clearly two of the board members seem to have heard something about it now though.

You can not "virtually" tell if someone is posting serious comments for attention or sharing tragedy.

I agree with Scuzi that it was the muppet comments every 5 seconds calling the involved people irresponsible at such a time that was not on.

Well thanks for calling us a Knob.

I think the amount of crap that sometimes gets posted on these forums, no wonder why some people question it.

Shocking news :( sorry to hear it. For it to happen at all is bad enough, but for someone so young :( I have kids myself and would be devastated if anything like this happened to one of them. I hope she is strong enough to go on from this and lead as normal a life as possible.

Best wishes to her and all the family

Really sorry about the accident. Must be so hard for the father to even begin to come to terms with.

Not uncommon at all, life is too short to spend hours mowing a large area of grass with a push mower. You have to empty out the grass cuttings every 10 minutes. With large sit on mowers the whole thing can be done in next to no time. Unless you have a large garden it probably seems like a pointless extravagance, but it isn't.

not but its the fact that having the child near when your mowing ,,!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I was 11 I knew exactly how dangerous a mower was, from the large tractor driven mowers to the small push along mowers. If the child was a toddler, then yeah I would say that the child shouldn't have been near the mower. But this was an 11 year old, despite still being classed as a child, can think for herself and can see a dangerous situation - I think you are saying all this crap on purpose to cause friction or to draw attention to yourself.

kvfb97 - This was a very tragic accident and my thoughts are with your neice, yourself and the rest of your family
