LED Bulb Thread

OMG it says 240V on the bulb. For some reason I thought halogens would be universal between 12V & 240V and therefore not specify on the bulb.

I knew that would be a stupid question

. Thanks.

So therefore I can replace them with ANY GU10 LED bulbs...correct?

Hmm well they have a retaining ring but they twist also! So I guess 240V can also have retaining rings?

Sorry yes, reason for the blond moment the light in my Toilet come with a sucker to allow you to twist the bulb out

We're looking for GU10 LEDs for our bedroom... Would you care to recommend either of those? Need to be dimmable though!?

Guys,

I am looking for LED strip lighting for my new house for the kitchen counter tops (attached to the top cabinets shining down). Any recommendations? Colour changing here would be a good perk! How can these be powered? with a small adaptor connected to a spur?

Also up the stairs, what is recommend? Strips or small clusters either side of the stairs?

Hmm that's in interesting idea, I wouldn't mind seeing some pics when you have done it.

I just bought 5 meters (60 leds per meter) of SMD5050 in warm white from ebay and I'd say they produce the perfect amount of light for under cabinets. We pretty much just have the under cabinet lights on in our kitchen now.

I hooked them up to a 12v dc 2AH adapter and they have been fine for a few years now. You can get remote to switch colours etc from ebay as well, but I just wanted the warm white to give some useful light for using the worktops.

Hi all,

well I'm totally confused

We originally had 11 x 50w Halogens in the kitchen. Changed them for CCFL on the advice of a friend. Although they easily match the halogens for brightness, they take an age to warm up (plus they really struggle to fit in the hole)

So.....yesterday I went out and bought Philips master LEDs as I was told Philips were the best. They are RUBBISH!! Now I may have bought the wrong ones (35w / 25d warm white) but the kitchen looks dark and the lights are very white.

They weren't cheap either!!

Can someone recommend me a good LED please. THANKS

We're having six LED downlights put in our bedroom (about 4.5 x 3m)... so going to be interesting to see if they're bright enough. The electrician says they will be!

25d is pretty low,, I've been considering these in my kitchen.

If you have an existing (traditional) dimmer, would those work with it?

@ them prices! I really could do with getting 4 for my kitchen as all 4 of them crappy ebay ones blew a while back, but screw paying £64.

Actually I dont need dimmable ones so I could get the £13 non dimmable ones. Still more than I'd have liked to pay, but if these will actually last a while they might be worth it.

Didn't want to start a whole new thread to ask this question but does anyone recommend outdoor LED security lights?

I've heard there are some good plastic units out there but didn't know anyone's experience with them (if any).

Just got my shipment of 20 and they are FANTATSIC!

Dare I'd say even better than 50w Halogens :-0

My LED light order arrived today from LED Hut. I've replaced every bulb in the house with them. All of the rooms are warm LED's except the kitchen which is cool and my sons bedroom which has a colour changing bulb. So far so good - i'm very happy with light colour.
The outlay was quite significant but it's a warm feeling knowing i'll never need to replace a bulb again.
