For the folks who want phillips hue i've seen stuff on aliexpress by a few companies now. Type in LED SMART STRIP, etc and you can get stuff which uses the same smart tech to connect to a hub and be controlled centrally and nest for a lot cheaper.

Phillips is like £80 for 2m. You can get 10m for £60.

KUDLED bulbs for a few quid which Phillips charge £40 for.

Aliexpress also has cheap chinese tat one it so I've been looking at the decent manufacturers.

Going to get a USB powered LED Strip for BIAS lighing on the tv for £4. Same thing in UK is £20-£30

I found the only dimmable cool white light there is, but quite expensive. Don't understand why there aren't more dimmable cool white bulbs.

OSRAM LED bulb E27 dimmable 1522 lumens Superstar Classic A / 15W - 100-watt replacement, LED bulb-shaped light / matt, cool white - 4000K £14.99

Dimmable is always considerably more expensive than non dimmable and rightly so.

5500K does look a bit clinical in the kitchen, but since it is daylight you can clearly see for food prep knife surgery, clear-down and washing-up; only draw back - gas hobs harder to adjust, flame colour is masked a bit.

Has anyone seen any good deals? I am after 10 x GU10 50w equivalent and about 3000K. I did miss Screwfix deal when they were a tenner for a 10 pack. I am nipping to Costco on the way home so hoping they have some.

Just nipped to Wickes at lunch. They have 10 and 20 packs of 2700K, 55w equivalent, GU10 for £15 and £25 respectively. They are non dimmable but thought that was a good price.

per eaarlier link I posted on cri these seem an option, but looking myself
as discussed the high cri ones have red leds, not blue, so give an accurate(more pleasant imhop) light that will not 'interfere' with sleep and be good for photos
[currently use some cri>90% metal halides in lving room - philips cdm-td)

4000K is nice and white whithout being to sharp and clinical. I much prefer it over warm and 5000K+

I just replaced all the 12v halogens in the kitchen with 240v Philips Led's at 4000k, really nice lighting for tasks but I wouldn't use them in a living room etc.

I really need some G9's as well now though but not sure where to buy them.
