(Sorry for hijacking this thread but I saw people talking about firmware updates, and I want to see if it fixes the black screen issues for me!)

I'm having an issue trying to upgrade the firmware on my monitor, no idea if anyone has ran into this.

The LG software says I'm on firmware version (3.03, 0, 6.05) and if I try to update it it says that I am running the latest version already.
I tried inspecting the requests that the app does, it's contacting the website https://lmu.lge.com/ExternalService/onscreencontrol/fw/27GP950_DSC/FWLatestVersion.txt and it returns NotAllowedPage, even if I open the link in the browser. Does anyone have a workaround? Is there any place to download the zip file directly so I can install it?

i'm having this exact issue too - same versions. i don't think it's a hijack - the firmware discussions are a big part of this thread!

I finally tried updating my monitors today and ran into the same issue. I also tried opening this link from three different countries (Estonia, Denmark, USA) and all of them return the NotAllowedPage error which makes me think this is not some sort of regional block.

Now I'm wondering if LG pulled the update due to some new issue. Certainly doesn't help that LG is so secretive about all of this.

If anyone manages to still update their monitor from today onwards, that would be great information to know here.

Hello,

I want to buy this monitor, but the black screens put me off.
I saw that some have the worry even after the last firmware update, in display port, but in HDMI 2.1 you have the worry of black screens?

No black screens on HDMI 2.1 but the gsync is not the same. The HDMI Gsync(nvidia) is Generic while the Display port Gsync is fine-tuned to this specific display. After the Firmware update, there will be some rare black screens but its completely usable unlike before the update.

Yeah I’ve had some black screens with the current firmware but I only got the monitor a few days ago. Really wanted to try updating the firmware ASAP as I am going to return it if I am not able to get this issue fixed…

Are you connected in HDMI ?

No, I am connected using DP and have overclock enabled.

Side-note, has anyone heard about this monitor - Philips 279M1RV/00? It seems to use the same panel as the LG from what I’ve been reading, and it even has more features (USB-C, for example), only negative point being not having the 160Hz overclock. If it really is the same panel and potentially doesn’t have the black screen issues, then I might exchange my LG for that one…

Sorry to be a pain, I received this monitor yesterday. I’ve been reading the conversation about a firmware update. Im not sure how to update as I’ve never had an LG monitor before. I’ve connected the USB cable that came with the monitor to the monitor and PC, LG on screen control says im running 3.03,0,6.05 - is this the correct version or do I need to update? Every time I click run, it says it’s up to date? Just want to check with the experts on this thread haha!
