i've emailed LG support, i suggest everyone else does the same.

i've tried to word my email with a bit of detail to perhaps get it forwarded to the more technical resources:

When i booted the other day the OSC software showed a firmware update available. I did not have time to apply it but when i came back later to apply the firmware it was not showing anymore.

I see from the Internet that some people have been able to update their monitors but that the firmware is now showing unavailable for other users. Has the firmware update been taken away? and if so when will it be availble again? It contains important updates that fix issues with the monitor and adds features that i have been waiting for several months and that were promised last year.

my current firmware version: 3.0.3, 0, 6.0.5

The new firmware that only a few seem to have been able to obtain: 4.04, 31, 6.06

if a fair few of us send similar emails maybe we can at least get a proper response.

Would love to know why the firmware has been pulled by LG. Since I got the update everything has been working fine. I have had one black screen flash in what seems to be around a month now. I am also playing at 160hz a mode that was broken for me at 10bit and HDR enabled.

I have another update pop up. Updating now

How do you know your firmware vershion

Connect the monitor to your computer with a USB-A to USB-B cable (one is supplied in the box), then run OnScreen Control, click the cog icon at the upper-right and the firmware version is displayed to the right of where it says "Monitor Software update". If a firmware update is available it should pop up a message automatically, but you can also manually check for an update by clicking "Run" on the same screen.

I had a couple of USB-A to USB-B cables knocking about, but neither worked. I don't know why, but only the cable supplied with the monitor worked, so if the monitor is not detected and you're using a cable you already owned, try the one that came with the monitor.

I literally just finished updating mine and now the firmware version is 4.04, 39, 6.05.

Thanks to every one for all the helpfull advice/ I kept getting connect usb cable/ so i switched to a difrent usb port and it's just updated to 4.04, 39, 6.05.:p

Updated easily (took ages though) looking good here at 144 on DP. Happy to have been able to disable deep sleep. No black screens as yet, although they have been very few and far between for me anyway.

I updated to the latest firmware from the previous one. I don't know about black screens but now this firmware has broken G-SYNC. The Gsync indicator is "on" but the image is really choppy and frames are inconsistent. I had to revert to the previous firmware and it's back to being proper gsync smooth again. This firmware update is a big no-no.
