LG 42-inch OLED

I cant find the rtings test pic to try on mine, you got a link please?

Below you can see the picture, click on "LINK gradient test pattern file"

some slightly visable banding in the green and grey ones only here, pretty much matches the pic rtings have though. 8.2 i would say is fair. Sony seem to have the best banding full stop.

So Is It Better than Mine i guess?
Other than that, the panel seems very good.
Zero pixel dead, very good grey uniformità and very low Pink tint.

What's your gpu? I've right now a 5700xt, i'll upgrade "soon" with a 7900xtx/4080.

Folks just a few questions...

1. is there a way to prevent those pop up messages to appear when starting the monitor?
2. I heard there is this LG companion app so that it turns your monitor off and on when pc starts, is there a guide how to set this up as I did try it once but was not succesful.
3. I used the settings given in one of the videos to prevent autodimming when changing screens, but I noticed this doesnt work when I have my laptop plugged in for some reason.. any ideas?
4. Forgive the incorrect terminology used. I was told that you cant turn the autodimming off but there is one autodimming function which can be disabled using the special remote, what are the differences between them?
5. Also when I leave the monitor for a little while it dims automatically, thats normal I guess?

It was this step:

Even though I'm wired and using a static IP, I couldn't get WOL to work.. I have an android app on my phone that will send WOL packets and that didn't work either, then I spotted the above and that instantly worked.. Stupid wording making it look like it's just 'Wi-Fi'..

Works perfectly now! Thanks. Was wondering what I had done wrong and hadnt had time to debug it!

1. Yes, I have all my pop up messages disabled except for it tells me the input is set to hdmi 2 briefly when it first powers up which I dont mind. No idea what I have switched off but if you follow the videos I posted earlier for setting up the screen for PC use - see this post https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/lg-42-inch-oled.18945242/page-20#post-36065557 then you should end up the same as my set up as that is all I did.
2. The LG companion add comes with step by step instructions https://github.com/JPersson77/LGTVCompanion. Dont miss any steps out. I forgot to do the hot tip in step 1.
3. No idea whats happening here.
4. Its GSR and TPC you want to switch off via the service remote. GSR dims logos which is no good for desktop use but some people dont mind it and TPC dims the 100% screen after a few minutes. Not needed to be on if using SDR for desktop and anything up to 150nits brightness. If you are using desktop brighter than that then you may well want to leave it on for safety. I pity your poor eyes though! see the last video I posted about how to keep the screen at 120 (or 150 nits) whatever windows you have open.
5. I think i have managed to have mine so it doesnt do that anymore - again follow the guides already linked. From memory I think its TPC which dims the screen after so many minutes.

Yes thank you Greebo for the repost.

Can I just check though there are two videos and each is recommending different settings for the contrast colour etc. Which should be followed?

Pick which one you think is best to your eyes. Nobody is perfect and one persons isnt the same as another. Same with brightness level. TFT recommended 120 nits for sdr and I agree with him but use my pc in a darkened room all of the time. I know other people who prefer 150 nits.

Cheers. Ive gone with the video which keeps the ABL off.
Incidentally what colour temperature do you set yours to?

E: Just installed the companion app. Genius, it works!
Incidentally, I assume I have to have the software installed on every device that is connected to the panel if I want it to wake up ? (E.g. I have a laptop I use for work and connect to the panel, I take it, it also needs to have the companion app in order to power up the TV?

E2: Any idea why the text in some installation boxes appears blury?

Ive turned adjust sharpness down to 0.

E3: just one more question please :) I tried the UW mode but for some reason when I run some games at 120hz at UW 3840 x 1600 the screen stretches. Any ideas?
