LG 42-inch OLED

What the hell guys LOOK!!

LG also confirmed to Inside CI that it will launch a dedicated OLED gaming monitor later this year, with UltraGear branding. The 48-inch screen will feature Display Port as well as HDMI V2.1 connectivity and have anti-glare technology, not used on any of its consumer TV models. It’s expected to appear in July.

48 seems too big for desktop gaming though. Pity they couldn’t make a gaming version in 42 inches.

The upgrade HDMI V2.1, bandwidth capability is increased up to 48Gbps @120hz. But that is only for 4K not 8K:)

Interesting news with LGs new Dolby Vision Precision mode, they claim it works on existing dolby vision titles so you get more contrast and details out of it.

I don't see why LG are doing an 48" gaming screen, gamers if anything want a smaller screen. Sounds like they might have ditched plans to do the 31" OLED size screen and just re-hash out 48" panels with a bit more gamer friendly features. Should have done the 42" size at the very least.

Yeah guys I also would have loved a 42 inch. Why make it 48 as a gaming monitor. Dont say it will be UW
But UW is 49 - Samsungs, and as we know 48 is 16:9, so it cant be UW I hope!

But yeah; 48 as a desktop screen..to big for me, but probably doable!
If it's good enough and have moaar hz then 120, as I really have a hard time to swallow the Alienware beying UW34. Give me more vert space and im all set :D

If that is in stock movie maker mode as AVfroum responded, the brightness delta is immense. Appreciate its G2 vs C1, so the G2 benefits from both a new brighter panel and also heatsink likely along with algorithm changes, but that gap is pretty big. Abit it does seem to be getting to the same issue the JZ1500 had where the white is increased so much to help with the brightness it does dilute things abit, hopefully something we see QD-OLED avoid. Still be interesting to see how the larger C2's fair.

Now on richer sounds.. 1399 as well. Meh. Mad you can get a 65 for that during the sale.

I guess the stand must have added some cost to the product as well.

Indeed. No chance I would drop that kind of money when I had the chance to pick up a 48” C1 not so long ago for around £750.
Let the deep pockets pay now I say, give it 6-9 months and no doubt price will drop.

Is LG still comparing Dolby Vision with HDR10 because their TV's don't support HDR10+?

Yeah they still tend to compare DV vs HDR, I mean why not, LGs support DV and HDR10, they just don't have that HDR10 plus which I don't think much supports that format.

I have watched several DV vs HDR/HDR10 plus videos recently and while its hard to compare due to Cameras not able to show all the details and all, the commentary does mention there is not much a major difference always but most preferred DV to HDR10, but there are times that HD10 looks better. Overall
DV is more accurate brightness and colour wise and with less image issues.

I believe Philips and Panasonic are the only OLED manufacturers that support HDR10 and HDR10+ and DV, if you really want the full bandwagon of support.

I think the LG rep set it to vivid, that brightness was way off its clipping half the detail. Compare the Vincent video I posted at least with his limited early side by side comparisons it looks normal and not much difference, he said he will do a direct comparison video coming soon.

I think they also set the QD-OLED picture mode to vivid.

Vincent's the only one we can half trust to set all the TVs to filmmaker or movie mode and use a high quality video to compare.
