LG 42-inch OLED

Yeah they still tend to compare DV vs HDR, I mean why not, LGs support DV and HDR10, they just don't have that HDR10 plus which I don't think much supports that format.

I have watched several DV vs HDR/HDR10 plus videos recently and while its hard to compare due to Cameras not able to show all the details and all, the commentary does mention there is not much a major difference always but most preferred DV to HDR10, but there are times that HD10 looks better. Overall
DV is more accurate brightness and colour wise and with less image issues.

I believe Philips and Panasonic are the only OLED manufacturers that support HDR10 and HDR10+ and DV, if you really want the full bandwagon of support.
I wasn't referring to the argument between DV and HDR10+ but on LG making an unfair comparison convenient to them because their products do not support the more compatible HDR10+. When you consider HDR10+ is free of any additional hardware or costs then you'd think LG would include it on any of their TV's anyway and cover every option. It's kinda of like LG stating their DV is better because we're ignoring the opposition. A complete marketing sham as they’re not comparing like for like...

Gotcha, yeh marketing at its worse.

I think the LG rep set it to vivid, that brightness was way off its clipping half the detail. Compare the Vincent video I posted at least with his limited early side by side comparisons it looks normal and not much difference, he said he will do a direct comparison video coming soon.

I think they also set the QD-OLED picture mode to vivid.

Vincent's the only one we can half trust to set all the TVs to filmmaker or movie mode and use a high quality video to compare.

Ouch that was to say it Kind - Disgusting as hell. Once again we have to live with these stunt moves!

So happy we have Vincent. Most all of the others can go kiss my ass. So Vincent it is. Thanks for the info buddy

I was wrong with him putting it in Vivid mode, according to the guy that did the video he put both TVs in filmmaker mode while at LG HQ. But he did say the camera doesn't tell the whole story and tbf he has the disclaimer there.

Maybe Vincent had a better camera so it looked more colour accurate I dunno, these videos are hard to understand if what we see is real or not but I think the C1 looked more accurate with details and colours over the blown out overly brighter G2 picture.

Maybe Vincents new upcoming comparing video which should be out maybe tommorow or next week we get a better idea.

Ok I see, thanks for the info man. Good to know :)
Yeah lets hope for Vincent shall we :)

I doubt Vincent wants to shatter his reputation. If anything the images/displays looks damn "good", it's the stores/manufacturers bumping the Brightness or Contrast to 100 and use some colorblinding preset to make customers fall in their traps. If I go to mode 'Vivid' on my OLED, it looks like some LSD crap.

So LG has announced the UltraGear 48GQ900 which is a 48" with matte screen and displayport. Why no 42" version is beyond me.
What are your take? Matte or glossy? Glossy does have more vibrant colors.

Yeah its a bit silly but then TV and monitor manufactures don't really know what they are doing or what the gamer or customer really wants
(28"-42" OLED monitors and TVs),

I think glossy is decent, you get a real sharpness and detail which you won't get with complete matt coating however some are doing semi matt so bit of both I think and apparently its still looking decent.

Yeah, glossy is best imo. I can control lighting in my office/man cave so prefer the better image quality.

Semi matt I can live with also I guess which is what this monitor likely be sadly.

You're right. I had a laptop with glossy screen and the colors looked really vivid. You don't get that with a matte screen.
Another plus about having the tv is whenever my sisters and niece wants to watch on my other 55" OLED tv, or we have family, I can just watch Netflix on my desk if I don't use my PC.
I guess I don't have any reason to wait for the 42" OLEd with matte screen.

Sorry to jump on your post, but what's the point of showing OLED comparison when others only have a 4K/1080p monitors! they won't see the differences only if you had an OLED TV:)

Yeah you are right, all these videos and reviews should be taken with some salt especially comparison videos that is why I mentioned a bucket of salt in the review above, I find it easier to listen to their words because its impossible to sometimes see any real difference.

Its a big issue with any TV or Monitor reviews, but at the same time can understand everyone wants to see the differences even if they can't!

As expected - not much difference at all vs CX/C1. Same coating on the Pig so to speak, how beautiful she may even be :D

Not a chance I will get the overpriced C2. Will definetly wait until some QD OLED - 42 or such arrive. Well if not Samsungs NEO G8, will blow me away. But I expect not, as it's sadly the same ole LCD tech with new - MiniLED - coating= same ugly Pig underneath most probably!

Its a tricky time to get the 42" OLED really, the QD-OLED appears to be delivering what its set out to do and that is fix the normal OLED issues.

Only issue is manufacturers are just so slow and don't know what consumers actually want, they might take years before we get an 42" QD-OLED.

Sadly have to agree, it surely is as you say!
Well but lets hope for the best. But in the backside of my head - knows we most likely have to wait!

Ha ha because of course it is. The QD-OLED (TV) reviews have been so stellar so far now I'm second guessing myself with the 34" alienware vs the 42" LG. Cant win for trying lol.
