LG 42-inch OLED

I think you might find even an 42" too big for your daily user. I had an 48" and even 1.5 metre back it was hellish on the eyes and brain and I didn't even use it as a daily but as a secondary display, daily is my 28".

I think the sweet spot would be an 31-34" for an daily, secondary 38-42"+ for a secondary.

But its different for everyone, viewing distance, room layout and usage are big factors in it. Console gamers with space could do an 65" probably.

If you wish to get an idea check the dimensions of an 42" OLED LG (932mm by 540mm) and cut a cardboard cut shape of it and stick it where you would normally be seated to get a rough idea of the sheer scope of it. Its not ideal but it will give you a idea to work with.
I have a 4k 40 inch right now and it's perfect for me even though I sit less than a meter away from it

Yeah that is good, as I was saying its different for everyone some love it and some hate it, its almost like marmite.

Hopefully we reach a point in the next few years manufacturers make OLED or QD-OLED screens from 31-42"+, that way we have the choice at least.

At a reasonable competitive price as well :D. I recently replaced the led strips in mine and it's given the screen a new lease of life. I can't help feel that I'm now being draw to the 48 inch C1 at under a grand now though

Well dumb me that dident try this!
So now I will never touch the Alienware. I will go for the C2. Need that space, there simply is no way around it!

Update: Totaly changed my mind - for what it's worth!
Tried some gaming tonight on my PG279Q - same vert space (fov) as this UW, as we know!
I hated the bloody supersmal fov. No way I can live with that, no matter how good it May be!

So I will Definetly go for the C2 42 incher, and be immersed!

To be honest, on proper ultrawide the view is amazing. I use that Vs normal 16:9 and vastly prefer the ultrawide in immersion. Likely not translating if your shoehorning it onto a other monitor. However the 34" is too small for me now, if that QD_OLED was in 38 inch's then would easily pick that over the C2. Alas for now 42" C2 as it drops in price. First need to get the big C2 for living room as tbh game there more anyways

Same here, man. I still like to play a lot of old games and they simply don't support UW. Or I must use mods to make it work but that doesn't always with a success.

C2 it is. Sony makes idiotic choices with stupid logics so not a chance despites the design is really nice.

Yeah call me when a 38 UW is out, as the 34 is just so small, I can just game on my mobile insteed!

Better with a bigger 16:9, that one allways Can do UW - if one would like!

Oh and Sony..LOL!
They are a joke - never cared about gamers it seems and allways overpriced to hell and back!

If you are able to do some leg work with setting up cheap direct debits (paypal, moneybox app, plum apps, charities, onepoundDD etc) you could open up 5-6 Switch bank accounts deals running mentioned here:

https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/banking/compare-best-bank-accounts/#switch

Its a quick and easy way to get £400-500 free, then just dump it into the OLED pot that way you could get yourself the 2022 OLED panel for 1K.

Some other random C2 and G2 Info posted here:

LG C2 and G2 have an ATSC 3.0 tuner. The TVs also support AV1 video decoding (but still not Netflix's AV1 streams).

High-end models are powered by an upgraded Alpha 9 Gen 5 processor with improved dynamic tone-mapping and new "AI" features, according to LG

New for 2022 is support for WiFi 6 in the C2 and G2 OLED TVs and the QNED99 and QNED95 LCD TVs. Other TV models will support WiFi 5. The Ethernet port is still capped to 100 Mbps.

******

Bit surprised they have not got netflix AV1 decode support, 100 Mbps was always gonna be capped sadly.

Oled 42 available to preorder at same place as the 48... and 1399 as well.

The alienware at 1099 looks better value for sure.
Yeah for sure. But if one can wait I am almost certain within 12 months it will come down to a three figure sum unless demand remains crazy high.

Thinking the same @TNA.

Although if the Alienware one gets a decent review, will look into them discount avenues as that may bring it down enough to trigger.
Yep. That's my thought. If I can get the Alienware at a discount I will be buying it on day one. Can see what's what and if I like then job done, if not just wait for a bargain on the LG displays.
