LG 42-inch OLED

I acually have high hope LG wont skin us. Keep the hope high guys, and then we can bitch about it if it aint. Who says one have to be wise and Not letdown. Well anywhoo it wont be the end of my happiness eaiter way!

My CX55 is awesome and I can live without a desktop joy. Miss it less and less by the day. But hey, who im I to judge, as I dont game much at all since years annyway.LOL!

For now it's way too early and today we just started 1st of the month February. I don't know how much the 48C1 was priced at launch but maybe they keep the launch price of C1. We'll have to wait till March/April to see the actual prices of the 42".
48C1 was £1300 at launch so it's up £100 for this year's model.

48” May drop £100 quid or so after seeing as they are bundling a “free” £250 sound bar with it on the JL price, possibly knocking price up for the 48” atm.

i do not expect the 42” at launch to be cheap either. Retailers know demand will be high, combined with being a new product in general. I would not be surprised to see it hit £1100 - £1200 tbh, more so as there is no old 42” floating around unlike the C2.

Out of curiosity anyone considering a 48" C1 if the price isn't that different to the 42" C2? While it seems the 42" C2 will have the Evo panel it may be setup for the 42"/48" C2 for longevity rather than improved brightness.

I'm tempted by whatever's cheaper but 48" just might be too big from around 1m viewing distance...

Even at the "right" distance, 48" is far too big for me. I'm not even sure I'll be able to use a 42" screen for twitch fps games etc.

The catch is that anything smaller than 42" OLED will most likely be marketed as a pure gaming screen and will cost twice as much as a 42" OLED.

I found the same by experimenting with both the 55" and 48" OLEDs at the "correct" distance with appropriate scaling.

Putting a larger display further away just feels wrong and disconnected when gaming.

Yeah think you are right - I currently have a 42" (1080p!) TV on a desk for console gaming and its fine; but I can't imagine having a bigger screen for actually PC work. Just hoping its £1K now :p

One thing though I'm trying to find anything where LG state that the 42" C2 has been setup to consider monitor usage as I suspect if I ever have any screen burn issues that will be a useful statement to have to hand.

These Evo panel equipped C2s especially with 42" and 48" might not even show that extra peak brightness, they don't have heatsinks after all so Its always a good idea to wait for the reviews to come in so we know exactly what screen type is in it and is there any difference, vincent from hdtv on Ytube will probably dig into that area.

If there is not any difference a lesser priced C1 48inch might be worth it.

I wish Philips announced an 42", they appear to be purely focused on using the newer LG EX screens this Summer but only announced 48" and above for now.

Also 1m viewing distance, its tough as in very tough I do it daily and it was too big. 42" is much better since I now use an 43" Samsung TV, no more headaches, eye strain, RSI.

I have considered this myself but as I'm sat only 60cm or so away from the screen it would be too big. The 42 is even a bit big but if it's under 1k with oled and hdmi2.1 goodness then I'm in. I'd get myself an Xbox and ps5 to go with it

I guess the next question is what you are gonna use to mount it - I think I will have to wall mount it as I doubt any arm mount would support the weight without being a mental price...

(please be effectively under £1k)

I don't think LG will come out and out saying these are fine to use as a screen to protect themselves from loads of warranties, always that risk of burn in I suppose, even if tech has got much better in mitigating it. It does seem they are conscious people will still use them as monitors, why supposedly they are limiting the brightness on the 42" and 48". That said, up close, be plenty bright enough for most I expect and no direct sunlight on the monitor. Still would keep to using them smartly, gamed nearly 2k hours on C9 and no issues at all. Just follow steps, screen goes dark if no movement for few mins, taskbar hides etc. Works well for me so far.

Wall mount wise, don't need anything fancy for these, pretty much solid / generic vesa mounts will work fine. They are not overly heavy and looks like if anything, C2 gen is getting even lighter.

Absolutely no wall mouth here. The stand will be more then enough, and by then I can choose how far/close I will have it!

The only other option would be an arm. Allways hated the wall mouth option. So thats no option for me ever!

Plenty of wall mount have arms (unless that is what you mean) have my current monitor on that, works brill, free's up desk space, can tilt as needed, bring in and out etc and gives a bit more distance then having it on the desk which will still be nice at 42".

The 42" is clearly immensely popular. I wanted the 48" too but since I never got a big screen on my desk, I'll wait for the 42" because of the distance.
I don't fear for burn-ins because I already will be taking measurements. It's already 8th February, time really flies fast by!

Well I didn't think Id need to rotate it for portrait and with a glass desk a full motion wall mount makes much more sense than thinking about a desk arm. You are right that these 42" C2 probably arent that much heavier, but I wanted to make sure theres no chance of annoying droop or anything.

Aah yeah now when I think of it I have seen it. Dident know it was so regular these days - that many have it. If so yeah, it seems pretty great, but I guess it cost and arm and a leg right?

Honestly, not overly expensive when you compare to cost of monitor. Can get generic ones which have no issues with them. Mounted my 34" yeas ago with arm for £18 from rainforest still going strong. Now that is not massive monitor mind, but even brother put a 55" on a full motion arm (though would be hesitant to have it all the way extended out truth be told!) which was £20 and no issues just before Xmas. Just important your not mounting it to just plasterboard really.

Alright, thats pretty awesome. Will keep it in mind, if the Tv stand would not do it. Thanks buddy
