LG 42-inch OLED

For 3000€ I'd be looking for something else and still have a lot of money left. So yeah, only the early-adopters and the rich will pay for that price.
Sony has their Playstation department and still have no gaming focused features, which is a stupid logic. And exactly as mentioned: all HDMI should be 2.1.

Only reason why non-LG TVs don't have all 4 HDMI ports as 2.1 (whatever that means :p) is because of the chipset they all use (Mediatek IIRC?), though I would have expected Samsung to use their own so surprised they dont match LGs prowess.

ps3ud0

Some guys over on AV forums I think were comparing those QD-OLED screen grabs with their own calibrated and OLED tvs and it looked similar yet better over those sony QD-OLED comparison screen shots. Can
Flatpanels also said they could not really see any difference after calibration, between last years Sony OLED and the QD-OLED, maybe calibration does improve the colours that much.

Some footage of the 42" Sony OLED here, and some QD-OLED comparisons:

Does one need to say mote then LMAO!
If this Really is true - so much for the hype. Just Samsungs hype BS propaganda again. Well if so LG doesent have anything to worry about, and we can Safely buy the C2, and give Samsung the finger!

55" and 65" Sony QD-OLEDs should be available April 14th in US at least.

mentioned here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgUzK6bMgSc&t=3136s

Someone on Avforum's mentioned Sony didn't have the time to use the new mediatek SoC board that came out recently, the one that uses 4xhdmi 2.1 ports, latest bells and whistles etc but did say it might come in 2023 TVs. That is just some random AV lovers thoughts and guess though.

Still nice to know QD-OLEDs are coming out this Spring/Summer like the rest of the regular OLEDs, let the comparisons begin!

Why im I not suprised - Sony never cared about gamers and is one of the most anticonsumer fXxx there is!

They can happily keep their overpriced and overhyped products. I go LG or even Samsung in a hearbeat, before looking at these scumbags. That said, I had the Sony Bravia 2017 (dont remember model name) very popular LCD Tv, until I got the CX!
Was a really good Tv, and back then, they dident overprice them, or should I say - some of them atleast!

Sony TV's have always been expensive. One of my first jobs in the late 90's was with Comet who were probably Curry's biggest rival until they went bust. Selling Sony products, apart from the original Playstation, was always a battle because of the price. Just as they did then people want the most bang for their bucks and new model Sony TV's are rarely the best bet in that regard.

Well John Lewis have the c2 page up for the 42" now, £1400 same as 48". Slightly more then even I thought at £1200 it would likely top out at, but they will sell :o

If you want to understand why, watch more HDTVTest videos. The cost of the TV is generally determined by how many panels of equivalent sizes can be cut from the motherwafer

I fully expected the 42 to cost about the same, there will be no cost savings for the customer you're paying the same for less, but if you need smaller then that's what it is

I do understand that. However mothererglass is only part of the equation. After all the rest of the TV would be cheaper to produce and transport of they wanted to save costs there. No, demand is also another key aspect and there is pent up demand so they will sell at this price too no issue, hence why in my earlier post in this thread mentioned not to expect this to be cheap.

By November these might be sub £1000 in places.
Good chance they will. But I think if I see the 48” C1 at around £750 again I will just order that. Not paying no £1400 for the 42” C2. If not will just wait for the right moment to pull the trigger when prices drop on the C2 eventually.

No rush now as played all the new games I wanted and nothing new coming out until December (assuming no delays) so happy to wait. Can always hook my pc or gaming laptop to my OLED in the living room now and then when I fancy :D

What the hell!? How can I the justify this price for a 42 inch TV!? Yea I get that it's how many panels they get out of a sheet but it's still only a 42 inch TV. I expected a grand or 1.2k at the absolute most but almost 1.5k is ludicrous.

If this truly is the price then I'm out.

From a business point of view it makes sense man. I know if I was in charge I would. There are loads of people who are happy to pay that price, why not milk them first and drop price slowly leading up to Black Friday like they usually do?

It's an absolute joke. They would sell 50% more of them at 1-1.2k. Putting such a premium on it is frankly crazy form a business point of view. You could sell so much more at a more reasonable price. 1.4k is way over what most people expected to see for a 42 inch tv

thing is, they will sell out asap anyways for first few months regardless of price. Can only supply so much so makes sense for them to make more money on each one sold. Then price will drop over time and allow it to become palatable for others to pick up. Pretty much like every gen really. TVs drop pretty steeply over the year.

I get that with gpus and consoles at the moment but I had no idea such stock issues existed for TVs. If I was a more sceptical bloke I'd think there was some sort of stock throttling going on to keep prices high for as long as possible

This basically. What azazl is saying only makes sense if LG had unlimited supply and even then why not still get more money out of people by milking those who don’t mind paying first? The only time you would lose out is if there is competition and not like there is a lot of that in this space. Sony will be charging more probably anyway.

That was pretty much my opinion. I didn't think they had stock issues and that they would be able to make more than enough to keep up with demand
Yea, it is not as simple as that really. It goes the way it does as they worked how how to maximise profits. All we have to do is wait and price will drop. Don’t want to wait? Pay the premium. I would much rather wait though, time flies by these days :D
