LG 42-inch OLED

Just ordered one of these from John Lewis, comes with a 5 year warranty (not sure if standard across all suppliers). Having it delivered Saturday, so can test it out over the weekend :).

Currently I use 3 27" monitors - 2 in landscape stacked on top of each other and a 3rd in portrait mode off to the side, these are all mounted on a Ergotron arm. I use this setup for productivity and work, as well as gaming (where I only use one of the monitors, with discord etc open an another). Will be interesting to see how they compare, especially when gaming, given the large height increase. Hopefully I like it, if not will return it but have been waiting a long time for LG to release this. Will also be interesting to see what FPS I get compared to the monitors. I have a 3080Ti & a I9-12900K, so should hopefully still perform very well.

I have a deep desk, so no concerns about being too close etc. As I say, just the height but I already crane my neck up to look at my top stacked monitor, so the TV will probably be an improvement. :p

Well I'm extremely satisfied, the new monitor (as I'm using it for) has met all expectations and exceeded some. Only 3 days with it so far, so will give it some more time before any more detailed thoughts. I'm also impressed at the frame rates I get in the games I tested, given the large jump in resolution and screen size from my previous setup. Most holding full 120FPS and others never falling below 100FPS. :)

My partner is also happy, as she now has one of my nice Acer Predator monitors for free haha. :p

If anyone is still waiting on their £100 cashback, I never heard anything since submitting around a month ago so I emailed [email protected], from their cashback site, and got an email back saying it's been authorise and will be sent out soon.

The usual suspects are doing further deals on the 42 C2 around £980 (Check hotuk deals), just goes to show this TV really should have been what vincent said a while ago @ £999.

I think its due to Sony's 48 and 42" OLED releasing soon.

I'll check the build date on the back of my unit later and let you know when it was manufactured.

Got a few guys asking me if you mind sharing that build date please, some asking if they can have the start of your serial number also.

But I don't think that serial number thing works, build date surely sounds more reliable maybe its written on the side of the box or above the barcode.

Have been seeing that there is currently 10% off the C2 plus a few other deals. So which would be better? A 42” C2 or the AW3423DW? when using a 6800XT. I have the AW3423DW on order but it is not being delivered till 19th of October.

They are quiet different in terms of size and resolution really so personal preference. If your going to do a decent amount of work, the AW as if you do not turn off the TPC Setting, static content can dim a decent amount on the C2, I gather the AW is not as aggressive. For content consumption / gaming etc, as before, personal preference. Personally absolutely love the screen size of the 42" C2 at 4k coming from a 3440 x 1440 34" model, games and content feel amazing on the 42".

Could try getting it in store or something? see how you get on and return it if not happy within return period.

How far are you away from your screen (say your face to the screen) and what kind of games do you play? ...

Eyes are about 85cm or so from the screen. Games, I usually stick to are management type games / cRPG on the monitor as most others I now play on couch on a 77" OLED with controller instead. But have tried most my games on it and no issue. One type however I do not play fast twitch online shooters anymore however like COD, BF etc on it. I think if your going to play those, monitor may be slightly too big at the distance I sit to take it all in.

This is the label off the back of the TV. Manufactured April 2022

SN begins: 204MAX

Any-one gone from the LG 38 UW to one of these, thinking of making the switch, love my UW but the screen on my LG 55" OLED downstairs is to die for.
Yes, I did exactly that. The UW feels small in comparison because of the extra height.

Whoa! I think mine is from the same batch as yours

Mine is:

Manufactured: 04/2022
Serial starts at 204MAU
2EMGL0GG (not sure what this is)
37/207 (not sure what this is)

EDIT: Bought from RS April 30th

I’ve already modified mine

In the process of wall mounting it, I realised the cable is too short AND it’s not a traditional removable IEC (thanks LG!).

Popped the back cover off and noticed the cable is basically crimped in to a connector block and pushed in to the TV.

Removed the plastic connector block and crimped my own cable on… and boom. Be ware, the stock cable only has a live and neutral so I don’t advocate messing about unless you know what you’re doing.

You need more clutter on your desk :)

It's not all back in there yet, I just took this photo this morning to show the cable and the wall mount ;)

Debating wether to put my speakers back on the desk seeing as the TV has some and I typically use headphones whilst gaming.

On the rear of the screen, what is the distance from centre of screen to right hand edge where the connections start ? I want to create a hole in my wall so I can feed my cables through to the inputs. Also what is the distance from left side and bottom edge to where the little panel is for the power cable ?
Thanks a lot
